pics 1 and 3 are of 04....pic 2 might be 06,the canopy looks a little different. nice work on this aircraft. look forward when it enters service to know more of its real capabilities,at the moment though,it seems to be nothing more than speculation and dreaming!

yes, they are showcasing it in zhuhai. plaaf might have to place some order, but it's in essence an export project. As for the improve/worsen performance, probably similar since they will have similar stats, but will probably have longer service life.

Induction is expected to be between March 2007 to May 2007. PAC will roll out its 1st aircraft in 2008.

The No1 pre-production JF17 plane has reached the final assembling stage. No2 got land gear installed. That's the latest news report in China's official Aviation Newspaper in couple of weeks ago. If I remembered correctly, CAC is still aiming to deliver No1 plane at the end of this year, although alledged a very tough job.

just looked up your link....said mach 1.8 combat radius@900km, what were you reading?
After my post this page was edited, I too noticed many errors in that page some of them are still now. For example, control panel screen size is 20.3 x 20.3cm it mean it is square. And we all know that are rectangular.

Are their any reports of future upgrading of radars and avionics, and better EWS (electronic warfare suite)?

What weapons can be used on this plane any list?

About J-10, what plane can it counter in IAF aswell as JF-17? thankx :)

i am going to pakistan in dec and stay there for 2 months, hopefully i will get to see JF-17s flypast in islamabad??
In china, J-10 was designed to be Competitive of Su-30 mks and yet be cost effective. JF-17 is going to be the main work horse for PAF and replace older chinese and frech aircraft fleet in PAF. In PAF it is consider to be a LCA slayer!:nutkick

If you can make it to Pakistan (especially Karachi) by late November, you could just be in time for IDEAS 2006! There you will definitely see JF-17 and a lot more for sure.

No real JF-17s but only mockups and a presentations. I had plans of going there myself this year but upcomes Nestle's interim audit and guess who is one of the slaves being dispatched to their bottled water plant near islamabad for two weeks starting next Monday.

More confirmation that Russians are cooperating on the JF-17 Project with Pakistan and China. Russia will supply the RD-93 engines but is now encouraging Pakistan for the upgraded versions now. Looks like India's clout is waning. Unbelievable and unthinkable just a few days ago:

China and Russia in engine tie-up talks with Klimov looking at next-generation powerplants including improved version of RD-93 turbofan used on Chengdu FC-1 light fighter
By Vladimir Karnozov
Russia's Klimov is looking at the possibility of joining forces with Chinese industry for the joint development of next-generation engines for fighter aircraft, helicopters and unmanned air vehicles, says general director/general designer Aleksandr Vatagin. "We are ready to work together with China on advanced projects of mutual interest, and are already working on some of them."
Speaking at last week's Airshow China in Zhuhai, Vatagin said additional areas of co-operation could include the development of new turboprop and turboshaft engines, gearboxes and auxiliary power units, plus enhanced versions of the RD-93 turbofan now in production for Chengdu's FC-1 light fighter also referred to as the JF-17 and Super-7.
Pakistan's first batch of single-engined FC-1s will be delivered next year with Russian-made RD-93s, and Vatagin says Klimov is now promoting uprated and vectored thrust versions of the powerplant for "improved Super-7 series" aircraft.
Talks are under way with the Chinese National Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC), which leads the FC-1 project, over the possible use of vectored thrust technology on future versions of the RD-93, says Vatagin. "We believe the JF-17 project will develop further with Klimov participation," says CATIC development director Li Pei.
CATIC says there are currently no talks with Klimov over licence production of the RD-93 in China, but Beijing is seeking ways of conducting in-country maintenance on the design. The Russian company says it is ready to hand over maintenance documentation for the powerplant.
In 1997, Klimov supplied its first RD-93 engines for FC-1 development prototypes, the first of which made its flight debut in August 2003. Four aircraft and one static test airframe are now being used for certification purposes. Pakistan joined the programme in the late 1990s and took part in the development of the export-standard FC-1.
CATIC will not disclose its orderbook for the FC-1, but says Pakistan is not the only third country being offered examples powered by Russian-made engines.

I don't how a FC-1 can shoot down a LCA. a FC-1 is a 3.5 generation fighter while the LCA is a 4 or 4.5 generation fighter. The costs and avonics have a huge difference. Pakistan's biggest hopes of shooting down LCAs is in the new F-16s from America.

This only works if everything is "equal". Unfortunately life is not like that and combat less so. Paper statistics mean little when combat occurs. Whilst the LCA may be more advanced than FC-1, this does NOT mean that FC-1 is completely incapable of combat. It wouldn't be built if that were the case.

If you truly think that combat is one soley be the side with the most advanced technology, I'd point you towards an incident like the infamous Blackhawk down incident.

The Somali militia were no technological match for the US Ranger force, yet it was the US ranger force, that had to flee, despite the losses they inflicted upon their enemy.

sir you seem to have no good information on this field so i recon you do some research before making such statements.:) both the LCA and JF-17 are the same 3.5-4 generation MRCAs though the JF-17 has a better HUD, a 4.5 generation. the pakistani version of FC-1 the JF-17 is more technologicaly advanced then chinese's with western avionics.

both MRCAs cost around $20-22 million.
