the marcos are under the control of the indian navy and are intended to cary out disruptive activities for the indian navy against enemy ports ,naval and coastal infrastructure,intelligence gathering, anti piracy ,detsruction of enemy warships and submarines using mines etc,however currently the marcos are being extensively used in the jammu and kashmir for counter insurgency operations,they are feared by the terrorists in the jammu and kashmir region and referred to as the dadi wale fauj or the bearded army since they are the only soldiers besides the sikh soldiers who are permitted to grow a beard in the indian army.

they have a choice of weapons including cyanide tipped crossbows for silent killing.

the gun is a heckler and koch mp5/7 and is of german made and is a standard issue for the marcos of the indian navy,it is a very famous gun used by many armed force and is considered to be one of the best of its kind available in the world.

The indian army special forces use the hk mp5....they bought a few for the marcos,army spec operators and the nsg......the nsg use these in all their operations.......
