Volcano fear

I wonder who of you also lives near a active volcano?

My grandparents live in Tenerife and their house is at a wonderful forest at Mt. Teide. Teide is a massive Volcano and one of the highest mountains on earth but it has no erupted since over 100 years. In recent months some things on the mountain changes, we get more and more earthquakes. We visited them christmas and stayed a few days and you notice small things. For example very little earthquakes where you see the water in the pool and aquarium swap. When you hike the summit you see lots of steam come from cracks in the stone and thats also not usual for Teide. The problem is, that Teide is dormant for so long that people dont have experience how he behaves. The volcano is monitored and experts say for moment its rising activity but still save...so people take it with some fun.

So i wonder who else here has the honor to live next one? If so how is it in your case and how does your government, army ect deal with it? Here its mostly watch and wait.

Closest volcano for me is Mt. Baker, about 25 miles from Mission BC. The biggest potential volcano with a large population nearby is Seattle’s Mt. Rainier. Both have been dormant for several centuries but Rainier is showing increased activity of late.

Teide is same problem as your rainier. The longer they are dormant, the bigger the problem can be.

I am in the lower Fraser Valley (near Vancouver BC). Only Mr. Baker is a threat, Mt. Rainier is about 200 miles south and both are in the US so not mine.
