WOW, I could have written that post. Definitely recommend Sanderson, going on your reading list. I wouldn't bother with the GOT Books, Martin is 73yo, very little chance of it getting finished.

About all they got right in the 1984 Movie was the cast, watched that Movie before I read the Books and liked it at the time but once I read the Books I came to realise how bad the Movie was. Splitting the Book into 2 Movies is a great decision and the 2nd one is getting made. Unfortunately the Cinema I watched it in had a technical issue with 30 mins to go and I missed the ending. The Mini Series was OK at least they got the story right.

I was a tad disappointed with Series 8. Felt it was an anti climax in many ways.

Another series I enjoyed was the Man In The High Castle. I also enjoy Raymond Feist's novels as well.

There are plans for a Riftwar TV series and personally I think it is a story that would adapt to film very well.

That would make for a very good series. As would the Demon war series.
I am a big fan of Heroic Fantasy. David Gemmell really got me hooked in the 1980-90s. I read much of Raymond Fiest's stuff and all of Jordan's WOT. The best books were 3 - 6 and then the last 5. The TV series was a very strange animal, that was more disappointing than not. GOT and The Witcher show that TV fantasy can be great. In recent years Joe Abercombie has written some ripping books. I've reread a few of Gemmell's books over the last few weeks. I'm about to pass Legend to my twelve year old son.

Abercombie fan here too. The WOT production got badly stuffed around by Covid, the last 2 episodes where filmed 8 months after the first 6 were finished and the guy playing Mat not returning to filming(new actor for S2)
Anyone can recommend me a good book about a UAV System, ones that goes into details? Preferably something that is already in use, which shows it's a success as a product. Doesn't have to be any specific type, but something that covers its development from its background, design requirement, concept, all the way to the finish product.

Just about 2/3 through Sanderson’s first trilogy, almost thinking of slowing down the read. I rushed through GRRM’s books, a problem with good yarns leading to what now syndrome. I am guessing upon competition, his other works will be on my list.

Just finished The Elements of Investing, 10th Anniversary Edition (©2022) by Burton G. Malkiel & Charles D. Ellis, now on The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need, Revised Edition (©2022) by Andrew Tobias, which happened to be listed in the Recommended Reading list in Elements of Investing.
Just finished : Turning Point: The Battle for Milne Bay by Michael Veitch.
Interesting overview of this chapter in the Pacific War.
Of note was the role of the RAAF working closely with the Army.
Each supporting the other.
There are many aspects to this battle and geography that raise "the what if's" should a similar scenario be played out today in our immediate region.

While Gallipoli, Beersheba, Tobruk, Kokoda, Long Tan and the Western Front have all been given their dues by the general public with multiple movies and TV series and are very well known, Milne Bay unfortunately has never got the attention it should have, considering it was the first Allied ground victory of the Pacific War, maybe not being a desperate backs to the wall battle, maybe it just doesn't fit the public image of the Digger.
