An An-124 belonging to Russia has been stranded in Toronto. Parking charge at Pearson Airport is 74 cents per minute. Disgraceful, that isn’t much more than parking a car at this pi$$poor facility. Might as well donate it to Ukraine for transporting heavy weapons.
A massive Russian plane that was grounded at Toronto Pearson International Airport back in February is racking up a substantial parking bill.

|"The order banning Russian aircraft operators from Canadian airspace is still in place, meaning the plane is still not allowed to leave Canada."|

Quite a trick to force your customers to pay enormous amounts of money.

Like you park your car somewhere, but suddenly you are not allowed to leave, and are forced to see your debts rising.

Seizure and then seeding to Ukraine would justify what Russia has done with the large number of leased aircraft in its airlines. Besides technically Canada isn’t at war with Russia. Actions like you describe would only encourage Russia, feed Russian propaganda and such actions have started wars in the past. Better to keep the meter running.

….and all English displays and manuals will include an extra charge;)
Oh, so Bombardier aircrafts are standard equipped with instrument panels, displays, placards and manual in French language?
Good to know, thanks for sharing.

Maybe that's also the reason why there are so many accidents with the Xian MA-60, its
undoubtly all in Mandarin!
:-D

Isn’t English the universal language of aviation?
In the MA-60 the instruments/cockpit is in English, it was also actively offered for export after all.

There are no clear photos available of the J-11 cockpit on the internet, but the JF-17 has an English language instrument panels and displays.

On this website (one of the best defence websites on the internet) we can see the Mandarin language cockpit of a J-7.

The first batch of Su-27SK and Su-30MK delivered to Indonesia had Cyrillic script cockpits.

Indeed. Quite often the actual translating for all the various manuals are done by others.

It is when it comes to verbal communications but cockpit instrumentations in various air arms are often not in English.

I'm surprised. Would have thought that the TNI-AU would have requested everything to be in English like the RMAF did with its Fulcrums and Flankers. The RMAF was lucky in that a number of manuals had already been translated into English by the IAF.

Indonesia's first order only consists of 2 Su-27SK and 2 Su-30MK, while Malaysia's order was directly 18 Su-30MKM.
And yes, Malaysia had the luck that the 30MKM is based on the 30MKI.

I just wonder how the Su-30KI of the original order of 12 pieces in the '90s would have been equipped.

ATR EVO concept. I never really see much development on Turboprop market, which market seems also shown that. Turboprop market practically stagnated especially with emergences on more efficient A220 and E2 series regional jets.

Problem with turboprop for most airlines is the fleet flexibilities issue. Turboprop only can be competitive enough on 500 to <1000 km range market or very thin regional needs on secondary cities to small settlements. While that range also can be service by latest gen regional jets, with the airlines also can used them on larger and longer routes. Thus provide more fleet economics flexibilities.

Still I do see with much eco hype in EU market, this type of Turboprop Airliners can still provide enough tractions (on certain eco hype market). Moreover Europe also has enough thin routes between smallers settlements to cities and enough economics appetites for airlines pricing on those smaller markets.

Still I don't see this will take off much against regional jets especially latest gen. The ATR people talks on much economics they can get on their newer gen Turboprop Hybrid. However the Jets engine also being push to get more efficient. In the end personally I don't see much different attraction of Turboprop in future compared to present ones (which already shown stagnated trend).

This is just few online information left on SU-30KI. Basically this is Soeharto's regime effort to find alternative from F-16 due to East Timor problem. The media at that time talk on Russia opening options for Indonesia for bespoke sensors and avionics packages. Just like Russia offer to Malaysian SU-30MKM and Indian SU-30MKI. Thus the sensors and avionics in fact can be choose to be writen in any form that TNI-AU more familiar with.

This is the concept of singgle seat omnirole Fighters. Which by Russian become base for SU-35. Perhaps that's why attraction for Su-35 from some in Indonesian defense and political circles. Because afterall this is the concept that Indonesian bespoke Flankers to begin with based.

So we can regard the Su-30KI as some one-seat mixture of the Su-27SKM and Su-30MKI. Hopefully Indonesia will be able in the future to upgrade TNI-AU's Sukhois to Su-27SM3 and Su-30SME standard.

Some other news.
The colours and serial 3505 on this Cessna 501 Citation business jet may indicate a tactical use beyond its transportation duties.
I think this is one of the coolest looking Citations on this planet.

Ten of these airships having been ordered by a domestic Spanish airline. It is affectionately referred to as the "Flying Bum" which brings to mind lots of other different expressions one could use describing this craft. I would hate to be in one if they tried to land it at Wellington in winter, with the cross winds there you may end up on Auckland.

No cross winds in Wellington. They're cross gales. When it's a calm day in Wellington all it means is that the wind is blowing in diametrically opposite directions at the same velocity. I love flying into or out of Wellington because it makes a flight interesting. The windier the better.

If you tried to land one in Christchurch during a nor' wester it'd end up in the Chatham Islands in a flash or halfway to South America if they weren't quick about it. During a southerly buster, they'd be in Auckland before they realised what was happening.

A McDonnell Douglas MD-82, made an emergency landing at Miami Airport after a flight from Santo Domingo to Miami. There aircraft skidded of the runway because there were problems with the undercarriage.

Having flown back from Abbotsford, BC, via Calgary with WestJet, I can’t imagine how Air Canada could be worse! With that being said, most of the problems in Canada are due to Pearson Airport in Toronto, a complete shitshow and IMHO, the worst airport in the Northern hemisphere due to a combination of greed and incompetence. Guessing most Southern Hemisphere airports are better as well.

Canadian airlines and airports claimed top spots in flight delays over the July long weekend, notching more than nearly any other around the world.

Many airports in the world have problems in this period, after two years of pandemic. The situation at Schiphol (AMS) for example is for months a complete nightmare.
It is hard for me to imagine the situation at Pearson in Toronto if that's even more horrible than AMS.

In Indonesia the amount of passengers was already increasing in November last year. But also at Soekarno-Hatta, Cengkareng (CGK), there are airlines with problems like lack of personnel and delays.

When I arrived at Pearson last week, 10:30 PM, only two of of 4 baggage conveyors were working. One had 4 flights arriving at the same time. There were at least a thousand bags piled up around the conveyor making it extremely difficult to recover a bag. This was at the smaller Terminal 3. Apparently the situation at the larger Terminal 1 (where Air Canada is) was even worse. Part of the bag pile ups are due to passengers taking their connector flights rather than taking the chance of being stranded waiting for bags. Hard to blame them when they see Pearson baggage area.

Apparently the Pearson airport show isn’t getting any better, despite the flight reductions by Air Canada and WestJet. My rule of thumb was drive for accounts 350 miles or less and fly to destinations further away. Probably need to double that threshold, WTF, I have a RAV 4 hybrid, might as well make it earn its keep, not to mention no cabs or car rentals!
