Wonder what the Luftwaffe will replace those with when they retire them? They must be getting reasonably old now.
The two VIP A319-133X CJ were only bought in 2010 by the Luftwaffe. They were bought used at the time and are probably around 20-25 years old by now. There are currently no replacement plans for any of them, and i doubt they'll be replaced in the next ten years.
A third used A319-133X CJ of the same age was bought later on and rebuilt as a reconnaissance aircraft ("A319OH" version) for Open Skies which only did its observation instrument certification flights a few months ago.
The two A321LR that were bought new and are being introduced now do
not replace the A319 in any of their roles but instead replace A310 that were in Medevac/PAX roles. The two A319 now used had similarly replaced two previously used A310 that were retired in 2013.
