I wonder why only the 3 since we currently have 5? You would think with added mobility in vogue recovery would be expanded if anything unless they are relying more on the self recovery features of the new fleet(s).Reply to my query of last from NZDF via Twitter 8:14 am - 27 Feb 2019: "In December 2018 three HX44M Heavy Recovery Vehicles were ordered from RMMVA, with delivery expected in 2020." So there we have it and nice to have a quick reply. BZ NZDF.
I actually quite like the new brit/Aus ones, change the colour to suit and then load them up in our new MANs/bushmasters that we should also tag on and save on bulk shipping, your welcome NZDF, I'll await my innovation cheque in the mail.I suppose the new uniforms will be another el cheapo manufacturer from offshore then, no locals doing it.
Don't suppose you have a picture or link to give us an idea?I actually quite like the new brit/Aus ones, change the colour to suit and then load them up in our new MANs/bushmasters that we should also tag on and save on bulk shipping, your welcome NZDF, I'll await my innovation cheque in the mail.
There are a few current pics floating around of crewman in the NH90s lately, will try and find one but this is not to say this is by any means the pattern they will eventually go for and just would make sense as already in use. This is then probably why we would go for a completely different uniform as military logic will no doubt dictate.Don't suppose you have a picture or link to give us an idea?
@RegR there has been a meeting of the WO & SNCO Mess committee and a cheque will be forthcoming in the snail mail once the committee can decide upon the amount and sober both the treasurer and secretary up long enough for them to sign the cheque and afix a stamp to the envelope.I actually quite like the new brit/Aus ones, change the colour to suit and then load them up in our new MANs/bushmasters that we should also tag on and save on bulk shipping, your welcome NZDF, I'll await my innovation cheque in the mail.
Haha yip, the boys reckon it's a manufacturer issue ie could be going under. Someone could come to the rescue last minute and bail them out last minute like usual if the price is right.@RegR there has been a meeting of the WO & SNCO Mess committee and a cheque will be forthcoming in the snail mail once the committee can decide upon the amount and sober both the treasurer and secretary up long enough for them to sign the cheque and afix a stamp to the envelope.
Are they changing the no see me camo gear again? The current MCU uniform has only been in service for about five or six years at the most.
Yep. Maybe instead of scrapping them Canada should fulfill the Saudi LAV contract with these hulks. Maybe they won’t notice and all our lefties here will be pacified.Interesting.

A mix of LAVII and LAVIII but seems as though we are not the only ones with spare hulls. Most likely all their damaged LAVIIIs from their Afghan campaign.
You could read to the bottom of the article and it would give you the full answer to your question.Interesting.

Seems like a lot of money to upgrade an existing lav 3, would they have been better off replacing them with boxer or other more powerful, better armoured vehicles? You could read to the bottom of the article and it would give you the full answer to your question.
I didn't ask a question. You could read to the bottom of the article and it would give you the full answer to your question.

Good to see military kit with tangible beneficial results outside of combat put to use. Really sells the worth and I doubt even the regular protesting protesters could begrudge military involvement here.NZDF-NZTA team hopes to have Waiho Bridge open on Friday

Supposedly it will be the longest Bailey bridge the army engineers have build since WWII.
Cyclone Bola proved to then PM David Lange how good our armed services were. He was kind of disinterested in them up until that point.Good to see military kit with tangible beneficial results outside of combat put to use. Pretty sure engineers provided this capability and an interim ferry service to Wairoa after cyclone Bola took out their main bridge link way back when.
