The AT4 CS Backblast?

Compared to the AT4 and the AT4 CS, how much insignificant is the backblast on the CS compared to the original? Can a soldier literally just fire the rocket only about 3 feet from a wall behind him and be safe from the backblast?

If the CS is the one which uses a sterile salt water packet as counter force, then from video I've seen, yes, pretty much. Also, the sound pressure at the firing position is greatly reduced - the Seal demonstrating the weapon did mention that he'd fired the standard in training and they were limited to only four live firings of the AT4 due to the effects at the firing position.

By contrast the CS round seemed a much gentler affair and I certainly saw them fired inside a medium sized room without turning the firer into mush.

I think 4 rounds is becoming the norm for certain munition natures for the Charlie G aswell. I have heard frm the saltier soldiers of them coming away from the Carl Gustav with tinitus even with hearing protection and even the odd bleeding ear which is a sign of bad things and that is all in the open. I would still be nervous in a room.

The guy I saw firing the CS inside a room was frankly amazed to still be alive - it was one of those TV "future weapons" jobbies and he kept a straight face for the firing but his composure broke once the dust had cleared and he was very visibly surprised to be in good shape.

Using a water counter mass is an interesting idea - Germany deployed the Armbrust which threw plastic flakes out the back to a similar effect but water is so much more practical.
