I expected that if Williamstown was ready for her, she would go there - not like they didn't know she was coming. She may have to be docked, floated, and moved so this has to happen in deep enough water for Blue Marlin to be able to submerge her hull. Interesting times anyway.Where will they be docking her.
It lists "Geelong/AU GEX" as the destination.
I will be in Williamstown tomorrow and wouldn't mind having a look. Geelong is a totally different matter though..... :lol2
Earlier on this thread, thanks to Gordon Branch...Lascelles Pier 3 at Geelong.I expected that if Williamstown was ready for her, she would go there - not like they didn't know she was coming. I wonder is the RAN escorting their new ship? If there was ever a time to take it out, it would be now....Earlier on this thread, thanks to Gordon Branch...Lascelles Pier 3 at Geelong.
Escort it with what?I wonder is the RAN escorting their new ship? If there was ever a time to take it out, it would be now....
LOL! How about a flotilla of the water police, or those customs vessels...Escort it with what?
Is there anything left that is not semi mothballed - sorry - "advanced state of readiness" , or already assigned to other duties or so donald ducked that they can't leave the dock?
I suppose there are a few RHIB's that still work.
Well that's just it isn't it - state governments have to pay for water police - so that's out. Customs have rather a lot on their plate but they are in the same boat as defence - minimum rations to protect the precious federal budget surplus. Oh, wait - revenue is falling from declining mineral royalties - where can we find some more savings ...........LOL! How about a flotilla of the water police, or those customs vessels...
had a discussion with some "relevant people" a few months ago re thisI wonder is the RAN escorting their new ship? If there was ever a time to take it out, it would be now....
I know they didn't use the Suez Canal because of concerns over piracy.had a discussion with some "relevant people" a few months ago re this
they were surprised that we didn't do an escort through a couple of spots.
you can thank SRP for that as well....
potentially dodged a bullet
Please do not forget to post those pictures, they will be very welcomed in this side of the world.RAN escort or not, rest assured she will be given a very warm welcome to Port Phillip Bay and Williamstown once she finally berths there. Every man and his dog will line the foreshore of Williamstown to witness this historic moment for our navy given the media coverage she will generate. Can only bode well for the RAN I would've thought.
I'll be endeavoring to get to Geelong tomorrow to photograph her coming in.
Security council is a formality, so why not make a big fuss over it and try and make yourself look good when you get it ! Current Labour Government politics in this country are pathetically predictable and super boring, two numbnuts on either side of the table who have a thing for each other, sooooooo boring, it will not change for another generationI guess no one thought of going after them now while she at most vulnerable, as they know that Her Majesty Australian Government won’t deploy them anywhere because we are broke. It’s easier to spend X $$ trying to get a seat at the UN security table and look good then back your own words with actions (Libya no fly zone)
And really what do we get out of being on the security table anyhow besides the look at me moment.
The way I look at it is it just another cushy post for some Muppet in politics as a payback for supporting this current lot of Muppets.Security council is a formality, so why not make a big fuss over it and try and make yourself look good when you get it ! If we had some money to spend on fuel, Canberra should be escorted into the bay
RHIBs....? your kidding yourself right, the only thing in a worse condition then the fleet are DMS maintained RHIBs, which are constantly being repaired, or towed in after 5 hours use from leaving the yard.Escort it with what?

Well most of the subs are back in the water now, helps when you don't have two laid up due to lack or crew and money. Paramatta is in pretty good nick at the moment as well....our last line of defence ..... gone .............:eek
Yes the state of the fleet is not good at all, we didn't even have Choules 6 months before we broke her. Success is just a very expensive lemon, even getting parts from scrapped ships on the other side of the world to try and fix her.Well most of the subs are back in the water now, helps when you don't have two laid up due to lack or crew and money. Pretty sad SB, as much as you can comment, what is the current time frame for Choules to be fixed ? I am still very surprised that there has been very little press on this one, would have thought they would jump on it hard ?Yes the state of the fleet is not good at all, we didn't even have Choules 6 months before we broke her.
