T-129 Attack Helicopter

What is TIA-129?

Do you mean T-129 is undergoing testing in South Africa? If so, can you give more information, perhaps provide some links?
This site keeps telling me I'm not allowed to post links. :(
If you are "qualified" to post links maybe I can PM it to you?

There is a discussion on a SA forum about this but so far the participants (which include myself) have not been able to dig out the purpose of the visit.

So far the speculation includes hot & high testing or they are taking a look at pimping it out with items from ATE's line of accessories for attack helicopters.

(Sorry TAI-129 is a typo - I meant it to be TAI/AW-129)

PM would be great. I've joined the SA forum, awaiting for approval to post to join discussion.

As far as speculations go, hot&high testing looks most logical, as climate is really harsh in Turkey, and program is on "double time". :coffee

BTW, add performance testing for South Korean tender for attack helicopter tender. Though I don't think it looks realistic, it is speculated nevertheless.

What crap is this about not allowed to post links?!?!?
That 'crap' stops anyone creating an account and immediately posting advertising spam.
You actually have to stick around and make a few posts before being allowed to post a link.
Actually makes sense once you stop and thunk about it.

I'd like to suggest that the "error message" be edited to explain this - and also tell how much activity (number of valid posts?) is required to lift the restriction. The current message is really "unfriendly".

What percentage of the helicopter will be made in Turkey ?
Turkey has buy anything of the A129 and can sell it to other Countries as T-129 ,they only look like the same, but the technology is not the same !

Nearly all of it. Airframe, engine, avionics, weapons are going to be produced in Turkey, either indigenous or under license.

Some smaller components might be imported, I know Roketsan will import small electronic components from a specialist company and generic, widely used western munitions like Hydra, Hellfire, etc. will be used as well. I don't know about the cannon though, if it's gonna imported or not.

You are wong: a partnership between Italiam Army Aviation and AgustaWestland provides turkisch pilots a transition course flying Italian A129 in Viterbo. During the first course (autumn 2010) four TAI sperimental pilots were trainded by italian instructors. Until today 12 Turkish Army pilots (ex-Cobra pilots) are trained and the courses are in progress. Trained pilots fly 24 hours of helicopter A129 and 40 of simulator. After the transition course, pilots come back to Ankara and start the T129 course.

I have seen on the AgustaWestland website that they list the T-129 among there products but does anyone know whether they would be the lead in any export sales (such as South Korea) or would that be TAI? Or is it likely to be a 50/50 partnership?
