Hello,
Im am from New Zealand and am very keen to join the RAAF and fulfill my dream of becoming a fighter pilot. Ive been interested in flying since a very young age, and have always wanted to be a fighter pilot. At the end of this year i will have completed a university degree in land surveying. I am wondering what my possibilities are?

Any help would be good.

Thanks Nick

Same here man. Im living in Australia at the moment, finished engineering degree last year, so this is what ive found out so far:

-You need to be an Australian citizen to join the Australian Defence Force, no exceptions.
- This means you will need PR in Australia first, then you can apply for Australian Citizenship
-To get PR, you need to live here for 2 years and work for at least a year.

- Im not sure how long you need to wait after attaining PR, but from what ive gathered you can apply for citizenship immediately.

If anyone else knows a better way, me and Nick here would really appreciate it, but so far this is what ive gathered.

Good luck.

I'm not qualified to answer your question at all (just a regular civilian here), but there have been several similar threads on these forums in the past - here's some links for you:

I'm not sure if the threads I've linked have the sort of answers you're after and some of them are probably more helpful than others, but in any case I hope they do you some good. :)

EDIT: From what I recall hearing from GF and others there's quite a few Kiwis in the ADF (please correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick here), so if you can fulfill all the other requirements I definitely wouldn't count the possibility out!

Im not entirely sure about that, my guess would be the total time you spend in Australia should add up to two years, HOWEVER, on this immigration website it doesn't mention anything about going overseas during that two year period so i guess its ok.
