It had an insanely heavy potential weapons payload (6,000lbs Mk.82 iron bombs, 4 AIM-9, 4 AIM-7) but handled like a slug when loaded with three tons of munitions that far out on the wing. Speed aside, in terms of raw carrying capacity there's not much more I would want watching my back than a modernized F-4E.
