Its not Canards, its called LERX i think.
What its stand for escapes me at the moment, but you should find it if you trail back on this thread.

Thanks

Unlikly yes, but who knows what the future will bring.
In the long term, it could happen..
France as a NATO member does not automaticaly mean US will get their hands on French defence equipment!

Just take a look at Red Flag 08 where the Rafale did not even reveiling its BVR capabilities against the US-Teens.
I'm sure there are many other good examples too.
French defence have their own seecrets and they do not share every thing with their NATO members..

Thanks

Maybe not in peacetime but every conflict involving NATO and Russia would immediately see France revealing everything it knows about the PAK-FA...

So giving PAK-FA to any NATO member is much too much of a risk for Russia.

In my opinion, talking about a Russia-NATO war is just as wild as Russia selling fighters to France.
And b.t.w. what about that Mistral deal?
It seems it will go through..;)

Thanks

Correct.

What does mean LERX ?

It is an English abbreviation of Leading Edge Root Extension who wants literally to say : Extension of the root of the leading edges.

Word corresponding in French is: APEX.

Where are they on the plane ?

LERX are the natural prolongations of the wings towards the nose of the plane. In some kind, they make the joint between wings and fuselage.

the LERX are supposed to be movable/dynamic, correct?

if so - on what axis are they movable? is it like this? (along the black arrow axis)?

Yes, if the aircraft turn left one side goes down the other goes up or was it the other way around..:)

If you pull back on the stick they will move unanimous.

But someone metion that on the first takeoff vid, that both Lerx was seen in a upwards position during take off.. At the same time doesn't the leading edge flaps go downwards under takeoff..

I don't know and i'm tired now, can' t think strait.
In other words i could be wrong here..

Thanks

Well while these are LEX, they are moveable and work much like canards. Take a look at the canard deflection during takeoff on aircraft like the Eurofighter or Rafale, the leading edge of their canards goes up, like the LEX on the T-50.

I understand that the FCS control everthing, but If the Leading edge Flaps goes down, it means the lift under the wing increases:confused:

Now like scorpion82 says those LERX work more like carnards than an extension of the Leading Edge Flaps on the wings.

Thanks

Havaarla, for canards, if they bend down, the air above moves slower than the air below, thus creating lift

But I think for the PAK FA, it bend upwards, to increase the air volume entering the engines during take off?

its nothing more then russian making fool of indian, russia lacks technology to make 5th gen aircraft now, they themself have stated that delivery wont start before 2025 ..

india should be smart and stoped especially after recent trials that more then half of russian supplied equipment doesnt work ...

russian are famous for selling dummy ( monkey ) product ..
they supply low grade equipment (eg iraq )

india should either develop her own industry or buy from europe

To bad they just signed a deal for 1,5 bilion dollars with Russia today then.

And they probably will sign a new deal involving the 5th generation fighter later this spring.

Until you get some facts under your belt, you can't even begin to talk. More then half of supplied equipment doesn't work? How about some sources.

Well i have read a lot of suggestion about that increase airflow to the engines.. but it doesnt add up.
Those air-inlets are by any account quite huge.. how much air do those engine need?

No, i think those LERX are all part of the 'supermanuvrebility'.
By adding more control surfaces on the T-50 coupled with 3D TVC i think it is excactly what they aim for.
And remember the wing design on that T-50 are quite sweeped back, thus it prob need extra control surfaces..

Just my 2 $:)

Gurkha if your post doesn't qualify as 'Trolling' nothing do.. thus i'm not even gonna bother reply on it.
Have a nice weekend.

Thanks

You made a specific claim. more then 50% of Russian equipment supplied to India did not work. Waiting on sources... or are you ready to admit you're running your mouth without anything behind it?

Nothing in that article is news, issues with the kilo subs, in particular with the Club missile systems for them, have been posted on here a long time ago. It has nothing to do with your silly claim in regards to the PAK-FA program.

Hi tigar.
Certainly not from LM.
I've seen figures like that before, but one can't trust them if their not official.
As with all other specs on the F-22A.

Thanks
