The Dutch and Italians have an agreement to do the (depot/line level?) maintenance at a shared center in Holland and the rest of the Euro partners are very interested and looks set to join.

According to a Dutch source we will be able to buy 42 F-35A's at the current Australian price...

3.2 billion is almost 2 billion euros is around 142 million per plane.
Our budget is around 6.2 billion.
Mind the VAT.

Don't forget the first F-35 aircraft are being built with a low production rate. When the production rate increases significantly, the price per aircraft will be much less. At the moment how much is the Euro worth more than the Aussie dollar? Twenty to thirty percent? Its most likely another twenty to thirty percent drop in price will occur when the line goes to full production as well. If not more....

And not every country consider spares as well with the shelf price either...

The big question is how much LM is able to increase the production rate...
Bingo!

It should be said, that IMV the best current benchmark is that Holland has bought a full fledged test aircraft at 99-113 million Euros and that the next LRIP batch seem to come in at 2 million below projected cost. So far so good, but this also tells little of unit costs at full rate.

But again, if it is possible right now, to buy a test aircraft at 99-113 million Euros, then later LRIP and FRP aircraft will certainly *not* cost more, nor the 142million Euros per unit suggested by jsfnieuws.

Grasp the logic! :D

And you dont think LM is smart enough to give the dutchmen a low price to change the opinion of the opposition in Holland? There is absolutely nothing that says that the price of the test plane covers the cost for the manufacturing of the same. This could be a way to say "Hey, we are not in trouble!" and gain some time, and it does not give a single clue about the unit cost of the dutch production aircrafts.

Also, what capabilities does this test plane have? 6 AMRAAMS internally? Radar? DAS? Datalinks? Sattelite link? Anyone knows?

The Dutch doesn't buy planes from LM but from the USG and they're not allowed to sell at a loss. It's for delivery in 2012 or later (irrc), so it should have a full avionics suite.

No indications of treachery here.
