One quick question about the MP5 SMG.

Does the U.S. Military still use the MP5 sub-machine gun in any branch or role? Maybe like the special forces or the U.S. Marines?

The US Army Military Police member standing on a corner a couple blocks down from here carries a MP5, if that answers your question.

Why should they?
Totally different weapons with different characteristics.

One being a 9mm pistol calibre submachinegun and one being a short 5.56mm assault rifle.

According to the mission one of these weapons may very well not fit (silencer, penetration, show of force,...).

If one replaces a SMG like the MP5 one is going to do it with another SMG.
I bet they have enough place in their arsenal.

Yeah that makes sense.
