¿Typhoon vs Mirage?

Ejem ejem........supercruiser typhoon (1.5 mach),in mode supercruiser x2 range misile lauch to 40000 altitud ..........¿with afterburner launch x3 range misile?yes

¿Its a joke? no

SRAAM Iris t (sensor qwip use in irst tecnology),with aumentg the damage, the misil dont explote near nozzels the aircraft, the misil go to center to aircraft......this misil can look,is 500.000 dolars misil but is aircraft enemy destroyer.

Mraam no more coments.

Mirage 2000 is one good aircraft, very good in low altitud for entry down signal radar enemy 200 km and return ,but no same to typhoon.

Typhoon need in short medium time misile mraam bvraam with irst tecnology 5 generation in heat.

Citizen578,

Argentina recently announced a large reduction in the military budget, because of the world economic crisis & its impact on Argentina (falling exports, lower export prices). Planned purchases have been postponed or cancelled (basically, no new equipment until further notice), & operational expenditure is being cut heavily.

Yeah absolutley, a 20% cut in budget for 2010 I believe, which takes them down to about $1.5-1.8bn p.a..
Is that preclusive for a (let's say) 12 aircraft order of ex AdA mirages within the next 5 or so years?
There's a great deal of concern for defence issues within the Argentine public, and with an election imminent and the ever-confrontational and populaist Kirchners seemingly on their way out, it would not surprise me at all if it became a vote-swinger over the next few weeks.

The Falkland Island F3's have now been replaced by Typhoon.

This is an important development because along with the airframes comes all the associated technical support, which means any requirement for a sudden increase in numbers (Argi sabre rattling) will be largely supported by the infrastructure already inplace.

As Swerve said, it's still very much the F3s on the beat. The original plan (made many years ago) was to replace them in late 2009. After the little 'episode' in 2005, they then said the Typhoons would take over in 2007, but then reverted to the original plan when things calmed down.

Don't worry, you'll know about it when the 'phoons go south. Just look at the fuss made in the national press for a routine deployment of a frigate...!

Reason for Argentina's aborted F16 purchase

I had never considered the intake position as a potential reason for ruling out an F16 purchase! What's wrong with a good ol' fashioned fod-plod?! ;)

From F-16.net:

The Argentinean Air Force had been looking for a replacement of its old Mirage III intercept and attack aircraft for some time. Considering the great financial problems the country has faced the last years, these plans have been put on hold. The Argentinean Air Force is considering to buy up to 48 fighter aircraft.

In May of 2006 the Argentinian Chief of Staff stated that the F-16 wasn't in the running for this fighter bid since Argentinian airstrips have traditionally a lot of durt and stones on them so the lower intake would be a high risk for FOD. Probably the Argentinians will go for the Mirage 2000 just as its neighbour Brazil. A decision hasn't been taken up to now.

bet they wish they had the money to buy the mirage 2000's now!....mind you, they would still be a poor match for the typhoons now residing in port stanley........would have been a better spectacle tho.;)

The current noise around the Falklands will not turn into a military conflict. Democratic Argentina has neither the will nor the military means for such things and as you say even if they suddenly got "rich" and purchased some Mirage 2000 that would not change these facts.
