Hey all,
New to the forum and wanted to say hello. I've got a question about Russian ATGM rounds. Can't seem to find much info on them, but basically I would like to know, how exactly are they used, I mean are they used for Long ranged or short ranged attack? Do they have a minimum range are they laser, Radio or wire guided? ANY info would be great!
Thanks,

Welcome,

Russian tank guided munitions are used for a variety of mission targets, this could range from armor vehicles, helicopters and building structures. They are laser beam riding projectiles that are used for long range engagements, engagements that would be beyond the effective range of their mainguns. You can use them really at any range beyond 400 meters, anything closer and muzzle flash and debris kicked up from firing may interfere with the laser tracker.

AT-11 Snipers launched from the barrels can also target low-flying aircraft. And, as eckherl says, the rockets can engage further than that of the standard main-gun rounds on-board soviet/Russian tanks.

Speaking about ATGMs, does anyone here know whether the AT-11 Sniper/9M119M Refleks can be fired from a man-portable tube? (Similar to Konkurs?)

No they cannot be fired from portable tubes, think about how they are designed.

AT-10 designed specifically for 115mm tank main guns

AT-12 designed specifically for tank 100mm mainguns with the exception of also being able to be fired from a MT-12 field gun with a laser guidance unit.

AT-11 designed specifically for tank 125mm mainguns

Also, what other slow moving aircraft on a potential battlefield do you think these ATGMs will take out.
