Well there is always a possibility of a high-tech equipment to be bugged for a number of reasons and pressures.

The concept of morality and ethical issues are quite different in such matters. The whole of John Staurt Mill's ethical paradigm may not be applicable in this case...!!!!

Looks like what ACM said about not opting for American missiles for integration with future PAF aircraft seems to be holding true.

Brazil just approved the deal to sell 100 of Mectron’s MAR-1 Anti-Radiation Missiles to Pakistan. I've posted the detailed report under Pakistani Missile Development thread.

PAF Acquires 12 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has handed over one dozen Predator-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), PAC Chairman Air Marshal Khalid Chaudhry said on Thursday.

He said Pakistan had acquired the capability to manufacture UAVs and had initiated indigenous production.

“We will manufacture more UAVs indigenously, keeping the PAF’s requirements in mind,” Chaudhry said. APP

Does anyone have any information as to which UAVs these are; that the press has labelled them 'predator-type'? Pakistan already produces a plethora of UAVs, so could this be something new?

I have not heard of any attempt by PAC to reverse engineer the predator. Media is perhaps using the term "predator" to make a comparison between the new UAVs PAC has developed. Like predators they can probably carry some air-to-ground missiles.

Help needed Guys

Guys help is needed here on a couple of issues related to the PAF.First of all i would like to raise the issue of the number of AMRAAM'S delivered to the PAF till date, would somebody knowledgeable especially SABRE and faisalk throw some light on it plz and the second point is related to the number of oerlikon's in service with the PAF air defence because sometime back i read in pakistanidefence that we've actually ordered 21 oerlikon's and on the other hand wikipedia states that we have 200 oerlikon's already in service with the PAF so to summarise the above paragraph the following two questions needs clarification
1.no of AMRAAM's in service with the PAF
2.no of oerlikon's in service with the PAF
Thank you.:)

About Amraams, close to 250 out of 500 have been delivered.
Oerlikons have been in service for a long time.
The 21 are new orders for an improved type.

Umir, how many PAF F16,s have been through the MLU? My understanding is that none of the f16A/B,s are AMRAAM capable as yet.

Our F-16s are blk 15 OCUs. They are bvr capable, all that is required is weapon integration.
4 are undergoing MLU to block 52 standard currently.

Thank u Umair

Thank u Umair for ur timely reply and by the way since we r talking about F-16's let me bring up another point with ur kind permission see we have been denied the DRFM technology along with our newly ordered F-16 block 52's(correct me if i am wrong)so why not incorporate something like the SPECTRA from France i mean we have done this before havent we?in the 80's when we bought the F-16's we were not provided the targeting pod what did we do?we went for the ALTIS from France so we could do something like that this time around too what do u think?

Last I heard we had 150+ AIM-120C AMRAAMs - and that was like 2 weeks ago (may be more). Their operational status is unknown at the moment.

Pakistan was provided with a very capable EW self defence system for it's F-16 aircraft, namely the APSIS II EW kit under the 2006 orders. DRFM may not have been provided, but is this absolutely necessary in Pakistan's circumstances?

Sniper XR targetting pods were also approved and are to be supplied according to the DSCA announcement...

Integrating an advanced new EW system onto the F-16 is not going to be particularly easy, quick nor cheap, I should imagine...

How can that be a fifth generation stealth plane? It will have under slung stores(no bomb bay) hanging from the wings.Surley this would create drag and expose the aircraft position. This plane looks alot like a F-16 with 2 vertical stabilizers.I am now wondering if Pakistan F16 were used as a templet to desighn the JF-17X.In my opinion its an F16 with 2 vertical stabilizers, what do other members think?

While the photo is bull, wht i am interested to know about is the content of the news, defence aviation inputs have started deteriorating - recently they said the French President was the chief guest at India's Republic day parade; so if there are other news reports of the same track pl post it
