This missile is being developed to replace the KH 55 ALCM. They have a nuclear and conventional variant. DO any of you have picture of this missile? Its said to be designed to be stealthy. The only pic of it I saw was carried by Bear Bomber, but it was so small I cant see any details.

Maybe any of you have subscribed to Aviation Week & Space Technology can post a pic from it?

Does anyone know whether it's in serial production and in active service or just a prototype/aborted project?

The Great Yeltsin stopped the project. But now the project is restarted and its being developed. A possible recent test fire was conducted.

Its range is proposed as 5000km, longer than the KH55, and it is a stealthy missile. It will replace the KH 55.

I don't think it's a problem as far as I know. Just when posting Russian sources, give a quick summary of what they say for the non-Russian readers. I've posted links to non-Russian sites many times. So yes please publish a source that the X-101 and 102 have been delivered to combat units.

Yes, and then there is also this site
http://translate.google.com/translate_t#
here is an example:

на страницы первой российской интернет-энциклопедии «Испытателей аэрокосмической техники». Сайт продолжает традиции «Настоящих сверхзвуковых!» и «Мемориала испытателей» и посвящен аэрокосмической технике и людям, которые ее создали и научили летать.
=
on the first page of the Russian Internet encyclopedia «Ispytateley Aerospace Technology». The site continues the traditions «This supersonic!» And «Memorial testers» and focuses on aerospace technology and the people who created it and learned to fly.

Hope it was roughly correct translation, havnt got a clue in russian, except njet

Sorry Guys i have read several pages and there was that in 1999 Kh-555 and Kh-101 were launched and adopted. But according to other sources in 1999 were adopted only Kh-555 which are non-nuclear variants of Kh-55.
look at this
http://www.testpilot.ru/russia/raduga/kh/101/kh101.htm
http://www.informacia.ru/russia/kh101.htm
http://nvo.ng.ru/armament/2000-06-23/6_strategics.html
the last article is date 2000 year and there is said that training launches were done several years ago.

http://www.russianforces.org/rus/aviation/
here is article dated 10.17.2008 where is said that Kh-101/102 are being testing now.

I think the development is being speed up. Since it forms the nuclear traid of Russian arsenal. And Medvedev has made it clear that the nuclear forces will be given utmost priority in maintenance/development. And the KH101/102 are needed to replace the aging Kh 55's, just like the Topols are replacing the older ICBM's.

And information on it has been scarce because they want it to be secret that way.

I would believe Russianforces.org in my experience it's a rather authoritative source on the matter.

Do they put in black n white every secret project that they want to keep secret in there?

Certain projects in current Russia has been kept under wraps as they I believe are important to be kept that way. Nothing much other than those projects are there is mentioned. Projects like PAK FA, T 95 tank and this cruise missiles comes to mind.

Others are widely published as they serve better in Russia's interest if enemies/ clients know about them, like those nuke tests.

So just because its not in russianforces.org, it doesnt mean its not happening behind the scenes.

You're missing the point. Even those secret under wraps programs are publically announced and debated. The idea being to boost Russian image by at least being able to mention having the projects. If the X-101/102 is only being mentioned in the testing phase, then that's probably where it is.

Err, I think no 1 is disputing the fact that those missiles aren't in inventory replacing those KH 55's yet.

I think most of us agree the project development is gaining pace in accordance with the renewed interest Russia is showing in rebuilding its Nuclear force, its Strategic force ( Tu 160's) and the growing oil wealth.
