CSTO Unified Command Structure

The president of Russia, Medvedev, has brought up the question of a unified CSTO command of coalition forces on potential joint missions in the Russian Duma. The international agreement on such a structure was made last october by CSTO leaders. Does this system hold a potential for a stronger military alliance under Russia's lead? Do you guys think such an alliance is likely?

I think Russia is trying to create a counter military organization to NATO again. But an even better Idea would be to dissolve NATO, and create a combined military organization combining NATO and CSTO members. But of course US ego will not let that happen. They need an enemy to survive practically, and this pours water into the idea of a worthy enemy.

Any military bloc needs a purpose to exist, and an enemy is the perfect purpose.

The CSTO is creating a multi-national rapid response force which is to defend any member of the organization that gets attacked. In addition a unified IADS for the CSTO will be created. The headquarters of these troops will be located in Moscow.

When is it gonna be formally created? and why is China not on it?
Because Russia wants Central Asia tied to Russia, not China. And because if China was in, there would be two alpha males in the same room - not enough ego space.

The purpose of the SCO is to make sure China and Russia does support seperatism or support proxy wars in the two states and as political show-case support when they sell the concept of "our actions is in response to Western misbehaviour".

Cheers

The SCTO does not include China in it. The question then comes about, can the SCTO mature into a solid military-political alliance with an immediate geopolitical sphere of control?
