I was thinking the 'Gast' gun should be brought back, Make them as Light MG's/SAW's in C-MAG Drum fed form. Here is a sketch i drew last month.

Apart from it 'Looking Cool' or 'Intimidating', There is still a point of 2 Barrels, While one fires, the other reloads making the ROF Higher reducing barrel heat and erosion.

Increased weight, increased ammo usage from the high ROF... nope. Dumb idea.

We can increase the ROF of current LMGs by simply fitting a lighter bolt and a new recoil spring. We don't do this. There is a reason why we don't do this.

No need to bring it 'back'. Russia still uses it, rather successfully. In somewhat more useful calibers than 7.92x57 (GSh-23-2 and GSh-30-2).

You're Braith-Wafer on THR?

eckherl:
40.78 lbs, unloaded. Plus the weight of 192 rounds for each drum (180 by other sources). ROF wasn't that high, only 1,800 rpm.
