Yesterday I came across this article in the Air Power Australia which i think is worth discussing and arguing about.

The article is about how to use Su-35/30 to kill F-35. Please note that all theory mentioned is when the JSF is assumed already in production, and the date given is around 2017.

P.S. If someone has already posted this topic, pls dont discuss anymore. My fault.

The article as such has not been discussed, but the content has indirectly - except this one:

F-35 in service from 2015 and Chuck finally understands penalty of having short arms and no punch, so redoes AIM-120 AMRAAM into the «D» model, with range of 110 km and a two-pulse motor – Americans have not yet solved ramjet drive like Russia.

Note that this missile is ramjet powered...

There are a number of posts in here that have dealt with APA and their mission to discredit the JSF. Some of us know these individuals through either an industry or professional association.

My view? APA has a wonderful pretty web site but trades in voodoo combat science - It's a pity that they don't hilight that the disconnect that they have when promoting their view of the air combat world is for a number of vested interests.

The US has Carlton, Meyers, Sparks and Riccioni abusing data to give a preferred outcome. Aust has APA and their powerpoint fan club instead.

Some of your JSF counterpoints can be found on here:

Again, I'd reinforce that from my perspective, I find it fascinating that individuals who have some vested interest and personal combative issues, who don't have relevant clearances (so are not privy to accurate data - even the Su27-30 data we get from preferential partners) have a semi-accurate clue.

I think that everything that needs to be said about this "analysis" already has been.

My opinion of those who wrote this article, as opposed to this mythical "Grishy" aren't high and for those who profess to wanting a technical professional debate on these issues, that they put this sort of article on their website should be nothing more than an embarrassment.

OK first of all there is no way a SU-30 or SU-35 will be able to kill a F-35, the F-35 will shoot the Sukhoi down before it even knows the F-35 was there in the first place. By the time the pilot of the Sukhoi knows the F-35 was there he will already be floating down to the ground with his parachute(the Sukhoi was destroyed).

su-35 can definitely shoot down F-35, it's just not very likely. With AWACS around and numerical advantage, that's what any advanced 4th generation fighter needs against stealth planes.

The F-35 will most likely have a 20 kills to one loss kill ratio against the SU-35. Thats why I much rather chose a F-35 over a Sukhoi any day.

Can we at least attempt to add some serious analysis to these kinds of threads.

Quite frankly, "can "x" kill "y" type threads are pointless.

This is getting closed before it degrades into another pointless platform comparison exercise.

It's about systems people - not planes.
