Is Bin Laden going soft on Europe? Just read below & see his tone in the words.

'Bin Laden message' to Europeans

Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has urged European countries to end their military involvement in Afghanistan, in an audio message attributed to him.

The message, aired on al-Jazeera television, calls on the people of Europe to urge their leaders to end their "interference" in Afghanistan.

It is the fourth audio tape attributed to Bin Laden in the last two months.
Insurgent groups in Iraq were urged to unify their ranks, in an audio message purportedly from Bin Laden last month.

In the latest audiotape, the voice says American power is ebbing and Europeans in Afghanistan should leave the country.

"It would be better for you if you (restrained) your politicians who flock to the White House and worked actively to end the wrong done to the oppressed," the voice on the latest tape says.

The speaker says he is responsible for the 11 September 2001 attacks on New York and Washington and says the Taleban, then in power in Afghanistan, knew nothing of the plans to attack.

There is a line of thought in Islam that before you make war on your non-believing enemies you should first of all offer them a chance to convert. Some Islamists have criticized the September 11 attacks on the grounds that no such offer was given to America. Bin Laden has since tried to do just that, this latest statement(if genuine) is likely to be more of the same.

I have never herd of any such condition in Islam. Forceful conversions are strictly forbidden. Islam actually asks not to initiate a war & fight only when war has been brought on to you (fight in self defence) & be proportionate & just in your actions.

Not some but many Muslim clerics have criticized the 9/11 attacks, it just that media preferred hot news over the cold ones.

Anyways; no religious talk.

What I see is an attempt by Bin Laden to isolate the Americans inside Afghanistan & uniting militants in Iraq against coalition forces.

to analyze and understand this speach , or any other speach or official statement, we shouldn't rely on news agencies that deletes most of the speach and only give few small quotations but we have to look for the major source which provides it without editing it.

i can have access to a translated version of his speach , although its non of my concern. Al Qaidah operatives on the internet upload these speaches/soundclips/videos on western uploading websites and then they put the URL's and spread it throughout few Arabic-language forums.

I did not mean to suggest that Islam seeks to forcefully convert people(I have no wish to and I am far from qualified to debate such issues) and accept that Bin Laden and his ilk in their warped minds believed they were striking a blow against 'those who oppressed their people'. My point was that I have seen it written on a number of occasions that such offers mean something to some people. Likewise, debating such issues do not have a place here.

Agreed. The audio is being run through a filter(s) and compression to begin with, then chopped up and distributed through the media, and who knows what else... without the entire raw audio (for obvious reasons), and as you note, without a complete translation of the entire "speech," the clips could be either taken out of context or missing a lot of important context.

Having said that (above), I could also pretty much careless what "he" says (JMHO). Although, I'd love to get access to the "raw audio," that's delivered to whatever media source... not going to happen.

Peace

i've just downloaded the speach and heard it. its one of his most weird messages where he mentions the term "The Third World" for the 1st time as far as i know

i think this speach will further the collapse of his popularity. in particularly his contradictions.

there's also a weird sentence he said on unjustifying the invasion of Afghanistan he says: ".. this war is waged on the Afghans without any right , you have no single proof that could be forward to the court.."

the speach is in a video type with OBL's pic next to Europe's continent picture while there is a direct translation to Deutsch language (i don't know if that means the language of Germany or the language of Netherlands)while "As-Sahab" term (which is the name of the media agency of Al Qaidah) is written in the down right corner.

Deutsch = German.

Well, or from Austria - there was an Al-Quaeda-affiliated "translation office" for these videos in Vienna, busted a few weeks ago, this would probably be made by a second cell either in Germany or Austria.
