In the Nov edition of "panorama difesa" magazine I read that the first 2 FREMMs for the Italian Navy will carry A50 Sylver and Aster 30 SAMs to make up for the obsolete SM1MR aboard the De la Penne DDGs... if this is confirmed we'll have 2 Doria/Horizon and 2 AAW FREMMs :)
The defence magazine even quotes admirals while stating that contracts have been issued to add Aster 30 to the initial FREMM setup... let's see...

cheers

For the last generation AAW in the next future in EU there will be:

6-8 Type45 (Uk)
2+2 Horizons (Italy+France)
6 F-100 Alvaro de Bazan class(Spain)
3 De Zeven Provincien Class (Netherland)
4 F-124 Sachsen class(Germany)
Yes But are these compatable with each other.

The F-100, De Zeven and the F-124 are based more around US compatable systems. The F-100 and De Zeven would definately be able to task together. But the others?

I hear the type 45 would be able to task together with anyone, as the UK is spending the money and has the access and know how to blend the systems.

They're all NATO. Common standards for datalinks, for a start. They routinely exercise together, & operate mixed task groups.

BTW, the Horizon, F124, DZP, Type 45 & Danish AAW frigates all have Thales Nederland S1850M or SMART-L long-range search radars, used with EMPAR, SAMPSON or APAR. I suspect that compatibility of equipment is not a problem.

The exception is the F100, which has US-made radars.

Let's say... the F124 still have some problems with that kinda thing, software-wise. Well, not so much with the NATO part of the datalinks, but with the homegrown AAW network stuff.
They're working on it, since... oh, 2005 or so? Hence no active deployment of F124 yet btw.

IIRC they stated that it would last at least until the beginning of '08 for the systems being ready.
So my bets are on 2009... ;)
