I dont think Iraq has any official policy regarding both or either of the above. In fact I doubt they have any official policy regarding any sort of weapon since the Iraqi army is armed with very little weapons & has no front-line war fighting weapons & capability.

NATO stands up for Iraq?

Against Turkey?

Against a NATO country?

For a terror organisation?

Ehm, no...

The ICRC, in 2003, reminded Iraq, the US, and the UK in advance of the invasion of their obligations with regard to the Geneva Conventions that all three have signed. (Pre-invasion) Iraq ratified the Geneva Convention in 1956, but has never ratified the later Additional Protocols of 1977 (irrelevant in this regard).

As legal successor to (pre-invasion) Iraq, (post-invasion) Iraq is bound to the Geneva Convention, which outlaws weapons that cause superfluous injury.

We all should remember that Iraq is an occupied country. US and its allied countries have occupied it by force overthrowing a legal government. Occupied countries do not have independent policies. These countries only follow policies sent out by their occupiers. Puppet regimes are installed to further their own agendas.

Iraq does not have a proper army. There is a police force yes but the kinds of weapons they have do not make them an army.

As far as united nations is concerned. We all can hope that we shall see a UN working for the principles it was created for but in the present scenario I seriously doubt UN has any relevance or effectiveness in major international issues. If it cannot stop major powers from invading an independent country than it has lost the very reason for its creation, which was to maintain peace in the world.
