Indo-Isreal counter terrorism

June 19, 2007: Israel and India are increasing their cooperation in the fight against Islamic terrorism. India has been suffering from Islamic violence for centuries, but Israel has been at the forefront in developing effective weapons, equipment and tactics to deal with the problem. At the moment, Israeli troops are in Kashmir, sharing their knowledge of how to keep Islamic terrorists from sneaking across borders. Although the Israeli experience is largely related to desert and semi-tropical borders, it is applicable for the mountains and forests more typical of Kashmir as well. The Israeli methods are highly dependent on many types of sensors, and computer software that can "learn" which combination of sensor readings indicate some guys with guns trying to move through an area. Israel has already sold India millions of dollars worth of night vision devices, which the Indians have used with great success against the terrorist line crossers. The Israeli sensors were not always as successful as they should be, and the Israeli trainers and technical experts are now in Kashmir to work out the kinks, and set the stage for some large new sensor sales.

India has been able to supply Israel with a lot of useful intelligence on al Qaeda activities, and what Iran is up to. India has maintained good relations with Iran, which has been a trading partner for thousands of years. In this case, tradition and mutual-need trumps religious differences. India also has a good informant network in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

THE Indo-Isreali co-operation is not limited to just logistics, this arcticle clearly proves that the Indo-Isreali mechanism is running pretty deep, atleast deeper than what i thought.Do you think that RAW and Mossad are working with a mutual understanding???? What say??

Yes well, if the author could find that out, there is not much intelligence going into the intelligence services is there.

Irony: I knew a man, no one knew him.

Well since the special forces train with the Israeli's (claimed to be so).

And we are participating with them in various fields (from agriculture to air to air missiles)

I can only guess what the intelligence services are doing together.

Shalom, namaste, may be

Almost forgot: These are relations out of necessity, Israel will sell what-ever they can to China, Pakistan(if they chose to go Israel)

Take a Google search for Israel-China military trade.

there are a host of them.

Israel’s Ministry of Defense has secured tacit U.S. government consent for a prospective remote sensing deal with China based on the Eros B, a commercial, high-resolution satellite nearly identical to the Israeli military’s Ofeq-5.
Sources here and in Washington confirmed the U.S. greenlight for Beijing’s participation in a unique operational program run by Imagesat International (ISI), a Dutch Antilles-incorporated firm based here that owns and manages Eros-series spacecraft.
1- Israel sells weapons to India, 2-India becomes a major customer, 3-no US objection, hey what else do you want, this is what they were waiting for, a major military spender, it is in economic relations, that the real power lies, so i for one do not see any thing special in this whole Indo-Israeli relations.

The reason Israel wanted to sell weapons to China is because a) It has lots of money and b) because it never worked toward the destruction of Israel
c) Jews have a long history in China d) China has political clout

The same reasons as it being an ally of India.... I might even say that China has historically been much friendlier to Israel than India (up until the last decade or so).

I doubt Israel would sell weapons to Pakistan for obvious reasons, it doesn't even recognize it.

India and China are not interested in developing good and prosperous economic relations. Any and all military contracts will involve the transfer of technology. If they didn`t get one thing and instead got something inferior its because underlying innovations behind production weren`t transferred.

They dont want to become customers, they want to catch up.

Well there are efforts for easing up investment into India, Israel will be a part of that for sure, last time a delegation from Israel came to India most of the people were businessmen, the weapon trade is a part of the picture, but Israel's economy is not dependent on weapons, the bigger picture even covers efforts in agricultural research.
I think China is engaged with Israel too, well economy is economy, that is a seperate issue. The last Indian Gov. was moving in for a diplomatic partnership (you scrach my back, i'll scrach your back), not much on that around these days.

Out of the three questions in the mutual relationship two have been/are been solved,
- USA: now that USA-India are coming out of the the 80s, the US influence can be a good thing.

- Iran: India has decided to be quite on Iran no support and no opposition, so nothing will be said about sanctions, invasion etc. etc. Again in the larger context Iran relations just dissapeared for some reason.

- Palestine: This will be an issue on which Indian policy makers will try to pull a "Iran", that is to say neither support Israel nor oppose Israel, If Israel can Ignore the protests in India, this will be to put it in an american slang "a cakewalk".

On the trade issue there was this on the news some time back
India Israel proposed free trade agreement.

If a Preferential Trade Agreement gives way to a Free Trade Agreement, the diplomatic/strategic ties will be firmly established with both nations sharing direct interests.

'I-AM-POSSIBLE',, Well I think this is possible and this sort of things happen in the allied forces, ie. US,England,Japan etc.. They send pilots, Seamen,Soldiers to each other countries to pick up tricks. This is very much possible with India and Isreal.Pretty much like the student exchange systems in our colleges. It will be great for our pilots to train with the Isrealies.

However this news(InAF and IsAF) if true doesnot seem to be in media coverage, a possible reason could be the potential backlash, however the problem is till a official statement comes out it will be very hard to comment on this with any sort of confidence.
The details that the article provides
IAF pilot will be attached with Israeli Tayset squadron which operates F-16C/D Barak from Hatzor air force base Located near the lower west coast of Israelb/b] , Hatzor airbase is home to three squadrons of F-16 A/B/C/D operated by 101 , 105 , 144 Squadrons by IDFAF , similarly pilots from the Transport wing will also be exchanged[b IAF pilot will be attached to C-130 Squadron and a IDFAF pilot will be attached to IL-76 Squadron and IAF Helicopter pilot will be attached to CH-53 Squadron and a IDFAF pilot will be attached to MI-17 units, this exchanged pilots will carry out routine training sorties from their respected posted Squadrons and after completion of their tenure will be replaced by other pilots from their respected air forces
make it seem to be based on some truth.

I have followed news from some time, and still remeber that IAF has trained Iraq's AF, and IN had exchanges with Iranian Navy, so it is very much possible that in the new situation we find our selves in (aligning towards different friends) a program has been initiated.

The discussion is about military ties and Israel, it has nothing to do with the economy or poverty levels of India, Pakistan and China
