The Dutch Marines are closely affiliated to 5 Commando Brigade and undertake joint amphibious operations with the UK marines on a regular basis. I understand the latter have been conducting a number of exercises in Scotland, hence the presence of the ship supporting the Dutch contingent. I believe there's a Dutch SPS troop based at Poole, whch shows how close the relationship is.

the ship will continue it's seatrials and is assumed to enter RNLN service at the end of this year, a work-up period will follow after that and it's expected to be operational at the beginning of 2009, becoming a part of NRF-12 most probably.

Just a quick throw away comment, but aren't these what the UK based it designs for the Bay Class LSD(A)'s on...?
They're Enforcer Series designs by Royal Dutch Schelde.

Rotterdam technically is not a part of the Enforcer series - the Enforcer series is a design developed from the Rotterdam design. The two Spanish Galicia class LPDs were also built with significant design borrowing from Rotterdam (not Enforcer). The four Bay class LSD(A) were built to the Enforcer series design, as well as Johan de Witt.
