Cost for Floreal class?

Things i can find:
- French Budget documentation (source: Forecast International 2004) says $985.3 million for the whole project - i.e. $164 million per ship.
- Moroccan Floreals, deal in 1998 for an "undisclosed amount" officially.
- The Moroccan ships were sold at $53.5 million ($107 million total awarded), from what i can find.

These numbers seem solid, though maybe a bit low.

Questions:
- Were the Moroccan ships "sold at cost"? Subsidized further than that? By the French government?
- Did either price include weapons? If it did, did it include fitting of Simbad?
- Does the French number accomodate the originally planned four MM40 instead of the actually used two MM38? How much do four MM40 cost, anyway?

kato, the two Moroccan Floreal were sold by France in a "Friend Price" basis to the Moroccan Kingdom.

Also, a few things were excluded of the French deal, and bought from different countries instead. Some of those on "market prices" deals and some more on "political prices" deals.

I.E. the main guns (OTO-Melara 76/62mm) and FCS (WM-25) mounted by the Moroccan Floreals were bought from Spain by 1 €uro each. Also an undisclosed amount of munitions and minor supplies were bought from Spanish surplus.

I guess we won't see this sort of almost-gift anymore, as French budgets are tight and companies like DCN don't need such contracts anymore as fully-paid exports are increasing.
Other than 76 vs 100mm and a less capable radar (surface search vs air/surface search) the Moroccan ships are identical to the French ones.

cheers

I think the Floreal would make an interesting offer for other "patrol navies".

I.e. navies with an open-ocean EEZ to patrol, and a tight budget.

The French ships went for 120 million Euro, a cheaper version along the Moroccan version might go for as low as 70-90 million Euro, especially if transferrable subsystems (such as 76mm or 40mm guns) are available by cannibalizing such locally.

Might be an interesting way for some navies to upgrade their navies with a rugged helo-capable high-seas patrol unit with considerable growth margins.

Yes I agree it's strange no more Floreals found export customers. However by now the design is old and there are much newer proposals (such as the Navantia sold to Venezuela) that are also below the 100 million euro per ship excluding armament. Fincantieri is also having success with a basic version of Comandanti OPVH (to Turkey's Coast Guard for example)
