PAK-DA supposed looks

I don't think it looks anything like J-10

It looks nice, like a hybrid of B-1 and XB-70, of course drawing such a beast is the easy part

Canards & Swing wing ! This aircraft might not turn out to be a stealth like F-22 & F-35.

I thought the world was done with the swing-wings aircrafts.

It probably will be a stealth aircraft , since making a non stealth 1 would proove to be ineffective and useless only to replace the Backfire's , the Stealth 1 on the other hand would offer a big advantage , imagine stealth bombers armed with Meteorit M , that would be amazing.

Looking at the drawing with it's V-G wings, it seems to be a not very significant advance from the Tu-160. I would also question the LO characteristics of the design, since as far as LO to radar is largely (~90%) has to due with the shaping of the aircraft. If one were to look at the airframes of the F-22, the F-35 or the not-selected F-23 or F-32, one would see wings, tailfins, etc. all with similar angles so that the lines run in parallel. That is not the case on the drawing, which means radar signals would have more area to reflect off of than a different design where lines did run in parallel. Also, utilization of a V-G design suggests two things.

1. The aircraft could have significant maintenance/through-life costs.
2. Russian aviation industry hasn't developed fixed wing designs capable of meeting the required aerodynamc envelope.

It must be said though that very little seems to actually by available on the PAK-DA, so this drawing might not be at all representative of what the actual aircraft will look like. In some respects, I would consider this more likely, since the drawing itself is reminiscent more of mid-Cold War era bomber design.

Dont think it will be fully stealth. Airborne cruise missile carrier need speed much more than stealth. And at 2+ mach any plane is visible anyway. With Meteorit missile bombers dont need to enter protected airspace, plus with 2.5mach speed it would be much easer to avoid enemy fighters, especeally given F-22 max speed around 1.8 mach...

Either way, this is pure speculation. For forseeable future i cant image any new bomber for Russia. The is simply no need.

Well Tu-95's and Tu-22's are not gonna be in service forever , so something will need to replace them.
And I agree that high speed is more usefull for cruise missiles , but who knows what the role of this bomber will be , well see in few years.

Tu-95 served almost 50 years and can happily serve another 50. Sure, they would be replaced one day. I just dont think this day happen in the next 20 years.

The drawing reminds me of a cross between and F-111 and the YF-23 with cannards. As you all indicate you would have to question the LO features.

I can hardly wait to see what Carlo Kopp has to say about this one.

This is a concept drawing for the Sukhoi T-60S the last Soviet bomber (though only a theatre bomber). The project started in the 1980s and most development ended in 1991 with the cut off of funds. The progress of this aircraft can be seen by still having concept drawings 16 years later in 2005… Since Russia is spending about the same on Defence as Great Britain it will be some time before something as all singing and all dancing as what this was meant to be back in 1989 actually emerges.

The linked webpage is basically a Russian equivlant of Carlo Kopp: OCD minor-engineer type churning out fantasies about aircraft and weapons he 'has' designed.
