Katushas launched into Israel... Not Good

At least 2 Katushas were by Hizbollah/Fatah al-Islam launched from Lebanon and hit Israel.

With Olmert just arriving in the US to meet Bush, what do people think the Israeli response will be. What do people think our (american) reaction will be. Does Iran believe that we will absolutely not attack them no matter what (maybe we won't). They're becoming more and more brazen in their orders/actions.

I have my own opinions as to why this would happen (strategic, having to do with the Palestinians). But until more info is given, I'll keep my opinions to myself.

Anybody have thoughts where this is headed?

They launch some missiles into Israel for years. Sometimes the Israelis strike back with some arty rounds or a LGB. That's it.
This is not going to result in a new big Lebanon campaign.
Something bigger has to happen if the Israelis shall enter Lebanon again.

Except this is the first time since last year's war. Israel isn't going to use arty rounds or a LGB on or near a Palestinian camp as it would just do what the Palestinians want. Unless people are killed in Israel; I don't see Olmert having any other choice than doing something major or taking a long vacation. Also, when the Katushas are fired from where they were, it can be blamed on the area being under UNIFIL's "jurisdiction."

I'm just worried about when Olmert meets Bush in public. As soon as photos go around the world, I wouldn't doubt one group or another trying to take advantage of the moment. Missiles hit Israel, and it's a win for Iran who is "making a statement to the US and Israel." If Israel fires back, it's a win for Iran, "Bush and Olmert have just been waiting to fight us again."

Watching UNIFIL might be the best hint as to what's about to happen:rolleyes:

The last thing Israel will do is strike back in this situation. As others have said, nobody was killed, and there are no obvious targets. UNIFIL need to get their act together to prevent renegade extremist groups operating south of the Litani.

Israel is more than happy to let things lie in Lebanon. Their attention is more focused on Gaza, the Golan, and Tehran.

I doubt Israel will enter Lebanon for a long time. The brief war was a failure regardless of what you may think.

Israel objectives were not met, ergo failure. The only way Israel will contain the region is with a US-led war against Iran.

katyushas landing in ISrael is nothing new-just like israeli incursions into surrounding areas. They are bad for peace negotiations, but they happen ever so often. Its not gonna stop
