Way out of date info on that site. No US forces in KSA.

Heck that site still lists RAF Alconbury as a USAF base, and the USAF left in 1995!!!

The only thing that gets updated regularly in Globalsecurity is John Pike's ego.

So to follow the above logic, an American-built C-17 with RAF roundels on it would be an "American aircraft with British colours"??

alright, as it happens, the personell around it were in us army uniform and were caucasian.....not hugely iraqi traits, even you must concede. all the personell around the aircraft which had arrived just before us were americans and caucasian americans. unless of course its one of the famous iraqi units where amrican soldiers and american aircraft are commanded by an iraqi officer who happened to be elsewhere. ( i imagine even someone who thinks theyre as sharp as you clearly do should feel daft after coming out with your piss take post not knowing how i knew they were actually americans). thre were several reasons why it was clear that they were americans, though i dont state them in the first post, is this a reason to reply with some attempt at a cutting remark? grow up. if you have a problem, seek help. want to ask me how i know theyre americans? go ahead and pm me and ill tell you. your idiotic response only serves to take the thread off topic, rainman.

Now that you've expounded your initial post, let me see if I can get this little tale down while ignoring your pissy diatribe:

You seem to say that you saw a C130, with Iraqi roundels, that had landed in an Omani base, but somehow was surrounded by US Army soldiers, and since we all know cannot be Iraqi's cannot be "caucasian"-which btw, they are-and this a/c and personnel may have been part of some famous Iraqi unit in which US soldiers and/or US aircraft are commanded by Iraqi's.

OK!!! Is that it??

Are you sure you did not see one of the following:

1.-An Iraqi crew flying a C130, donated by the US, and which happened to be wearing US-style uniforms--Iraqi Army/AF units are wearing US-style uniforms. Highly probable.

or maybe you saw

2.-A US crew delivering to Iraq a donated C-130. Very highly unlikely for it would still have the USAF insignia until turned over.

or perhaps

3.-An Iraqi crew being trained by US instructors. Also very probable.

the hercs were at the intl airport.

the "famous iraqi unit" is sarcasm pointing out that there would not be us personell under iraqi command.pretty obvious.

You mean you've never heard of the US Army's "1st Famous Iraqi Unit Batallion"?

indeed not..... :D

seadog, do you know whether its meant to be a secret or not that oman allows a us presence there? from muscat yacht club one can take boat tours, and on one of these they did mention the us presence, though in almost no detail. judging by your name, this might interest you: there is an area near the new palaces (in a bay really) where us naval personell traditionally write on the rocks, messages from hello to all sorts....either in chalk or someother white material (paint?).

you are into naval matters, no? perhaps you can tell me why there have been so many us navy visits there (that specific bay area covered by the messages, by thre new palace( as i said before)? is there anything special there or any history behind that rock and its messages?

Never been to Muscat. The only beaches in the neighborhood that I've visited are:

Gulf---Dahran, Dubai, and Bahrain (BA stewardesses under the influence are very very very very friendly) :pimp

Red Sea---Jeddah, Yanbu, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheik, Aquaba, Eliat, and Djibouti.

how come it cost the United States a billion dollars a day to stay in Iraq?

I know gas is that expensive

Careful Zoolander, inane one liners that don't add much to the discussion are not especially welcome here. Try and contribute a bit more if you wish to remain able to post...
