Now, one of you guys mentioned---gf what would the australians do if something like that happened. Return it indeed----after I have looked it up through and through, taken pictures, videos, and samples of the material, checked out the technology if it is worth keeping for the trouble it would cause.
If it was an allies assett, we would not be pulling it apart - that is not even something that would be considered.

You are apparently unaware that Australia along with NATO and some Commonwealth Members has been signatory to a technology sharing agreement - this has been in place since 1962.

Other countries may elect to invoke mistrust by such actions - we certainly do not. That would destroy the very fabric of those agreements and corrupt any opportunity between the member nations to share technology and at times provide scientific assistance.

If it was a hostile nation - then yes we would. Are you telling me that Pakistan elected to strip a US asset when it was still talking about being the USA's friend?

I think all he is trying to say is that Pakistan was not informed that cruise missiles would be passing over its territory to reach their targets in Pakistan and so Gen. Anthony Zinni was sent over just in case if the Pakistani authorities found out somehow about the scene and raised their attention towards this issue. So the point that he is getting at is, if the Pakistanis found a cruise missile in their territory (without having knowledge of its usage of Pakistani airspace), they could've kept it and kept quiet and the Americans wouldn't have minded the thing 'cuz they never told the Pakistani that cruise missiles would be using their airspace to get to Afghanistan. Now thats what I make out of VICTORA1's post. :smokingc:

It was Clinton era. Clinton is not considered Pakistan's friend. No democrate is. USA had imposed sanctions on us. They were bombing Afghanistan which we openly did no suport than. So there was gowing resentment in Pakistani gvernment against USA than. Besides Clinton was favoring India quite alot than. So when we took the cruise missile, we were not saying & trying to be USA's friend.
When the news came on national TV that is PTV, they said USA has used Pakistani Airspace with out our concent & without informing us. One of the un exploded cruise missiles had landed in balochistan, which was taken by the experts to the lab (I guess this is the AQK lab where the could defuse the missile and the explosives in it. Its the birth place of ther Pakistani Missiles as well, I think).
so if Pakistanis defused it, than they certainly had the first look at the technology.

On the other hand USA general was here to keep our mind of the attack, he dint come to make us calm. He was trying to distract Pak authorities.

GF,
At that time there was no love lost between pakistan and the u s of a. Bill Clinton had refused to shake Musharraf's hand when he visited pakistan, pakistan was under u s sanctions, it was an undeclared overflight---. There were no ally assets involved in that case. Even if u s had asked for it, pakistan would have refused to oblige. That was a different time.

People in the u s had raised concerns about pakistan getting the cruise missile technology----and I remember clearly, the experts who came on cnn, foxnes, msnbs stated that there was nothing special on the missile it, everything was controlled from the satellites. So even if pakistan got the missile, they would get nothing out of it. I saw these news items myself. Now GF, you being in the field would know better if the technology was in the missile or somewhere else.

Now as to my speculation about what australia would do, I truly don't know. You have to get to the bridge first to cross it. But then the australians are a unique group of people----you would know them better than I would.

We, on the other hand are a group of very desperate people because of the sanctions and west's indifferent attitude----you cannot judge us by your standards.
