horse.gun.wife: Yes: I've seen the first christian church. St. Peters in a cave, though it has been renovated lately by the crusaders.

in these kind of citys you can actually smell there has been a long long history . today its a city with muslims ( sunni and shia ) alevi christian and jewish people, and it all seems to work quite well.

Mod edit: That's excellent news. Now can we get back to the thread topic of discussing the Turkish Army's order of battle? Cheers. AD.

4th Army
4th Corps: HQ Ankara

Just a question...in my old notes the 4th Army (aka The Aegean Army) also described in the Wikipedia as the army which "covers the entire west coast of the Anatolia peninsula and has its headquarters in Izmir. It was organised in the 1970s in response to political tensions with Greece.", and included the 7th and 15th Corps.
...
Hi Guys. FYI just registered in this forum and this is my first post. :)

@Orko
To be a bit of a besserwisser: There is no army named "Fourth Army", but Turkey has four Army's (Armies?) where the fourth one is named "Ege Ordusu" (The Aegean Army).

@FutureTank
What is your question?!? :S

Dear z1pp0,

In fact you are right, literally fourth army is named as Aegean Army, which is planned to undergo a vast modernization phase, included a possible formal name change (according to unconfirmed sources).

Almost all of the training units such as 1st Infantry Training Brigade, 3rd Infantry Training Brigade, 59th Artillery Training Brigade etc are now under command of EDOK (Egitim ve Doktrin Komutanligi; equivalent of US TRADOC), which is an army sized formation.

The exact name of Cyprus contingent is "Cyprus Turkish Peace Corps". Though a corps sized unit, it is actually an army level formation.

Cyprus SF Regiment should be Cyprus Commando Regiment.

Will post more updates when I get the chance to examine more closely.
