TNI-AD photo on both Apache (8 pc) and Hind (6pc) with anti tank missile. Mi-35 population in Indonesia is being calculate between 5-7, however personally I believe 6 delivered in two batches of 3 each.

Video from US Army on exercise Super Garuda Shield. Exercise that begin decades ago between US and Indonesia, now already enlarge to 13 other participants. Mostly in the region. The video put quite time on MLRS exercise with US Himars and TNI Astros II (Army) and Vampire (Marines).

Wrong Hind photo though, Indonesian army operate the P variant, with twin Gsh-30-2 30mm on the side of the cockpit, not the chin mounted Yak-B 12,7mm shown on the photo above.

Prototype of local build MLRS using local build 122mm rocket (RHan). Will see if this going to be stay on Prototype stage, or move to production. However compared to previous local MLRS proto, this one seems more serious build.

Using KAMAZ truck as base, it is also quite shown typical Russia-East Euro MLRS similarities.

Looks like a KamAZ 63501, a highly capable 8×8 with a 16.000 kg payload and a 11.760 cc V8 engine.

It is remarkable that they didn't bought the Tatra 815 (which is also used for the RM-70), to make logistics, training and maintenance easier. Maybe the KamAZ is cheaper, or the Korps Marinir already had some unused ones on stock.

Perhaps because KAMAZ actually has better presences in Indonesia commercial market then Tatra. This means their supply chain support supposedly provide better network then Tatra.

This plan for 750 batalyon of Development Teritorial command (with 105 already establish), more and more in my opinion resemble Russian National Guard concept. The difference it is still under TNI-AD. However the duties more or less border control, internal security, but also added civilian development projects support. Related tp either Agriculture, Livestock Farm, Infrastructure Project. All related of what be call food security initiative.

I just wonder, these 105 new batalyons, are these created from current active personnel, or do these units consist of brand new recruits?

As far as i know, Indonesian batalyons have around 500 to 800 persons, so suddenly adding around 80.000 to the current amount of more than 300.000 TNI-personnel, that's a lot.

At least 24000 new recruitmen for ground soldiers level this year alone. For non officer staff and officer I believe they are taking from existing inventory. TNI already known to produce more officers then needed. Some talk this teritorial development batalions, new fleet commands, and upgrading Air Bases being build also to give more command structures for those surplus officers. Well it provide more infantry coverages, teritorial control, and provide career opportunity and employment.

My concern with this policy is that this is just rewarding the military for the overcapacity of officers, and they won't change to reduce the rate they produce officer in the future. Not only it made it harder to modernize the whole armed forces, it also adds political weight to the military as well. Indonesia is a democracy now (albeit flawed), but I'm worried with the leadership now glamorizing Soeharto era, and encroaching influence of the military more and more to the civilian sector, we're gonna flip to Myanmar 2.0.

Even at the hight of Soeharto era, we are not Military Junta. Soeharto just like Soekarno is Dictactors with all powers circle around them. It is not Junta, and the insurgencies even with the hight of Aceh and East Timor (Soeharto) are far below PRRI/PERMESTA days (Soekarno). Today insurgencies in Papua is child plays compare to them.

My point internal insurgencies matter are more benign as years go by. However this Teritorial Development is part government and TNI effort to shown their presences in outer islands and borders area. If this is consider reminisences of Soeharto era, could be so. However the governments after Soeharto are populis and compromistic by nature. They are also see the increasing rebirth of nostalgia movement from publics that fed up with "reformasi" movement and want to have some "more" semblance of subsidy support just as the time of new order.

TNI development being accepted so far because public also fed up with Police track record to handle internal security, Criminal negligances on matter of online gambling and drug enforcement. They want TNI to shadow Police behaviour. We can see with last demonstration where many youth attacking polices but mostly stay calm in front off TNI Soldiers. All this shown goverment that are populis in nature and exploit public sentiments.

There are those who are vocal to TNI enlarge presences in Public domain. However if most publics support TNI enlarge presences, then the government will take advantage of public sentiments. This is what politicians do in most democratic nations, take advantage and try to influences of public moods, for their political goals. Politicians are corrupt by nature in most nations in the world, because they seek power. We are accepting them, even realises their lies, because the alternatives either chaos, or back to Dictactors era. Mind you the second alternative has increase acceptance from those who are frustrated with democracy.
