Does this gun use the Colt 1911 mechanism? It looks very similar in slide configuration etc...

I was thinking it looked a lot like a CZ-75. The slide lock and safety configuration are the same, and the slide rails are on the inside of the frame rather than on the outside. No notch on the slide for the lock or safety, since the slide fits inside the frame instead of over it. Also, no external barrel bushing or guide rod. Even the grip has the same shape in the backstrap area.

You'e probably closer to the mark than me. I was assuming that the guide rod was accessed after the slide was lifted.

It's hidden by the compensator in the picture, so you can't really tell. But it has a lot of CZ type features, that's for sure. Even the cutout inside the triggerguard is the same. Some CZ's did have an external barrel bushing, but the internal slide is the giveaway. Also CZ's were offered in SA as well as DA, and it was probably the most copied of all the comm-block pistols.

edit to add: I did a little looking and found this.

The CZ-75 pistol was developed by the Koucky brothers, who worked at the state-owned arms factory Ceska Zbrojovka in the city of Uhersky Brod (Czechoslovakia, now Czech republic). This full-size semiautomatic pistol first appeared in the 1975, and the production began circa 1976. CZ-75 was obviously intended for the export market. The CZ-75 accumulated best features from many preceding designs. Resulting pistol was aesthetically attractive, comfortable to handle and shoot, quite accurate and reliable in operation. Made by CZ in various versions and modifications, CZ-75 was also widely copied and cloned. Most popular of CZ-75 copies are (or were) made by: IMI (Jericho-941, Israel), Tanfoglio (TZ-75, TZ-90, T-95, Italy), Sarsilmaz (M2000, Turkey), ITM (AT-88, Swiss), Sphinx (mod.2000, Swiss), Norinco (NZ-75, China), Springfield (P9, USA).

Uhh...[TR]AHMET, I think this is a small arms thread, not big ass Howitzer.

Canadian C7A2 rifle, many units have already received this upgraded version of C7A1. The overall weight is lighter and has a 4 position butt like the M4.

Looks like a potent little package, Gary. Did you get to try it on the range?

What's your opinion of the 4.6x30mm? Is that the AP round? I don't know anything about it. I kind of have a bias against small calibers, lol, still a fan of the good old 1911.

Do you know what kind of numbers HK is getting out of the 4.6mm as far as penetration, muzzle velocity, energy, etc.?

No, they don't like you discharging weapons in Federal buildings. ;) I do have some gelatin data available, but I'll need to read it and see what I can post.

I'm a fan of the 1911. It was a gun that acted as a test mule for a project I was working on a few years ago to test the effects of recoil. We had it chambered with a floating breech to test various calibres. A nice solid weapon.

All bow before John Moses Browning. :smokingc:
