Gripen is said to have a 10 mins turnaround time to land - refuel- quick aircraft systems check - reload and take off for next misson
Does the F16 have a similar timing like Gripen ? in a war this could prove critical ......
That would depend on the expertise of the ground crew...even as early as 1968, the Israeli ground crew could turn around a fighter in just about 7 mins.

News slowly trickling in that FOUR F-16s will be reaching Pakistan by June 20th. They will be flown by USAF pilots and will be handed over to PAF in a small ceremony at PAF Shahbaz base. EIGHT PAF pilots have already completed related courses & training in the U.S for these F-16s; however about a dozen U.S "training" personnel will be maintaining some sort of profile on the base that these F-16s operate out of.

Capability comes from people first, organization second, training third and platform last. Any tertiary air force has the significant capabilities for air power generation, which means that ability to reload and rearm their aircraft in a short time. In fact, it is common to have competitions amongst different air crew to reload and rearm aircraft.

Further, since this is a thread on the PAF, stick to the topic - do not further derail the thread with your concerns on the Gripen, which is not an aircraft in PAF inventory. While we encourage detailed comparison of weapon systems, we do not encourage "weapon A vs. weapon B" comparisons (and if you read the Forum Rules, you would know that).

BTW, Taiwan and Singapore also train their pilots to take off and land on public roads on a regular basis and some of these videos have been posted. Both countries maintain integrated IADS, hardened aircraft shelters (either underground or built-into the side of a mountain) and the capability to operate on public roads (which is not platform specific) because of the possibility that our air fields may be attacked at a time of war - this also means the ability to arm and refuel them off base. And before you ask, hot refueling (refuelling a plane with the engine on) is not an usual capability for tertiary air forces.

Here's a video of a range of Taiwanese aircraft (F-16s, Mirage 2000-5s and AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuos) taking off from a highway your viewing pleasure:

Here's another video, with Singapore F-16s taking off from a road in Ex Torrent (there's even other videos of F-5Ss and E-2Cs taking-off and landing on a road from the YouTube user, Pirate too):

Your posts have consistently shown a lack basic knowledge that can be acquired reading information that is already contained in DT. It's clear that you don't even read the threads that you post in. If you did, you would know more about the aircraft you are posting about. Please spend a day or two reading the threads you post in before drafting error prone posts - this particularly applies to your posts in the Indian Air Force thread. You have a habit posting unsupported fan-boy type of opinions with glaring factual errors. This would not have occurred if you read the thread or did some basic fact checking.

A word of advice: Change your habits and read the Forum Rules (which you have obviously not read), otherwise, you will find that other forum members will start ignoring your posts and the Mods will start paying undue attention to your posts. I'm also now telling you to include links on every 'fact' that you post, as a means of quality control. Kindly demonstrate greater maturity as your post count increases.

Pakistan Starts Production of Avionics for Fighter Jet

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan successfully launched the production project of avionics for the fighter jet JF-17 Thunder at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra on Friday.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said, “A strong air force is essential for the country’s survival, therefore, it is important that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) gets self-reliant. Today’s ceremony is an important step in this direction.”

He expressed satisfaction on the significant progress made in achieving the national objective of self-reliance in the defence industries. He commended the management, airmen and civilians of PAC for their devotion and dedication towards this national objective and urged them to continue the journey with added zeal and zest.

Earlier, PAC Chairman Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan presented an appraisal of the JF-17 avionics programme activities.

He said generic production and testing facilities have been established at Kamra Avionics and Radar Factory where, besides the Chinese avionics, “four indigenously designed and developed avionics systems are being produced”.

He informed that the scope of production at PAC will be broadened to include “a complete JF-17 avionics suite”. Defence production secretary, members of the JF-17 board of directors, principal staff officers of PAF and representatives from the Chinese aviation industries attended the ceremony. APP

Seems to be a case of smooth ToT from China to Pakistan.. I'd be interested in finding out what 'indigenous' avionics is PAC producing apart from JF-17 stuff..? Also, if anyone can shed some light on any updates with regards to a Western avionics suite for JF-17s...

Two of the four local systems have been in the publics' knowledge for a long time. To refresh, these are the HUD and the Weapons & mission management computer. This ought to satisfy to some extent, people who pose querries regarding Pakistan's contribution to the programme. And this indicates only a fraction of the technical input from the PAF/PAC side besides the financing factor, which I came to know sometime ago is not the usually bandied about 50:50. Rather it is close to approx 60:40 Pak:China respectively. Pakistan has a controlling stake in the project contrary to popular perception and its participation has not been passive at all.

Three new F-16s (block 52+) inducted in PAF fleet

JACOBABAD: The first batch of the latest version F-16 C/D Block 52 high tech fighter aircraft that arrived Pakistan yesterday at the newly developed PAF Base in Jacobabad, have been formally inducted in Pakistan Air Force, Geo News reported Sunday.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, US ambassador in Pakistan Anne Patterson and United States Air Force Chief of Staff Gen Norton Schwartz attended the inducting ceremony.

The three aircraft were ferried directly from the United States to Pakistan by PAF pilots, who had recently completed training on the new aircraft in US. Air Marshal Mohammad Hasan, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Operations), Air Marshal Waseem ud Din, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Administration), along with other senior PAF officials yesterday received the aircraft at the base.

Under this arrangement, PAF would receive these aircrafts in different batches. The delivery of all the 18 aircrafts would complete by the end of this year.

These aircraft are much superior to the F-16A/Bs already in the inventory of the PAF.

The US gave Pakistan four used F-16 jets last year with 18 more to be yet handed, as the process regarding the supply of these new fighter jets would complete in December 2010.

No. They are to go to Turkey for midlife upgrade. I think only couple of F-16s went to USA but I am not too sure about that either.

I dont think one countries air force's logo can be painted in another country it has to be done on their own countries soil.
What? No it doesn't. As recent examples you'll find the RAAF Super Hornets had their RAAF markings on them when they were rolled out in the United States, likewise with Singapore's F-15SGs. Where did you read otherwise?
