it seems likely that this is the same deal previously reported as J-8s but in fact related to J-7s. On the face of it, it doesn't seem like a good buy -nigeria's strategic needs are more in the air-ground arena -both maritime and in support of Nigeria's "peacekeeping" (hmmmm.....) habits. IMO.

i don't think my country would've gone for the j-8.what we need are multi-role aircrafts.now,the f-16 would've bn nice(and if i still recall,our defense ministry is still making plans to purchase them from the US).but our choice -the f-7- isn't bad cos of the cost of training(most of our interceptor pilots are trained and have flown the mig-21,and both aircrafts are very similar),maintenance.
