The documentary does very little to analyze the real reason for the defeat of the Soviet forces. It ignores the real issues behind the helicopter strategy, which was really an attempt by Soviet command to make up for lack of troops on the ground. It was an attempt to use force multipliers and deal damage, to make up for the inability to actually hold ground because political leaders denied the necessary troop commitment to the commanders.
