This already made the rounds in 2018 - back then about e.g. German soldiers in Afghanistan or US soldiers in Syria. Strava was the culprit back then too.

Most NATO countries - e.g. the US in particular, where FBI etc was also compromised - outlawed the use of GPS-evaluating fitness apps and trackers such as Strava by soldiers back then. And offhand for certain deployments (mostly on the Russian border) private cell phones are entirely not allowed.

France confirms 32 cell VLS upgrade for five FDI frigates, missile capacity doubled across full class, phased retrofit and new build integration through 2032.

My understanding FDI being design for 32 VLS. Seems this means all 32 VLS space going to be use, instead 16 that being equiped French FDI.

A cold-launch VLS to take CAMM or CAMM-ER, to allow the fitting of 24 CAMM/CAMM-ER in the space needed for an 8-cell Sylver, overcoming the drawback of Aster-15, that it needs the same deck space as the much longer range Aster-30.

Note that Aster 15 is being upgraded to have much longer range, expected to be more than that of CAMM-ER, & I think it's supposed to have have higher hit probability, & since it needs less below-deck space than Aster 30 (Sylver A43, shorter than the A50 needed for Aster 30) there could still be a place for it. But given the increased threat from low-cost & relatively easy to shoot down drones & cheap missiles, numbers of stored kills counts for a lot. Relatively small numbers of high-performance SAMs isn't enough. Supplementing them by lots of cheaper weapons is necessary. Even CAMM looks very expensive compared to some of the threats.

Interesting for sure but as you say, less costly option are needed. Another reason for multi-block builds wrt our River class, monitor new developments. Hopefully our new government doesn't want to monitor new kit beyond the "second coming"

A bit of sophistry here; the ability to carry 96 short range missiles such as CAMM cannot be compared with a Burke’s capacity to carry 96 long range missiles. Using the same criteria, a Burke could carry 384 ESSM…..

I actually don't understand why they don't install the GIAT Rapidfire 40 mm instead of the two SADRAL systems for the Mistral on the FTIs.
