They have to get to Moon again and that hasn't exactly been going great. With budget cuts to NASA, the proposed timeline of 2026 is doubtful.

The Artemis 2 mission is now targeting a launch for February of next year.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed last July includes funding for SLS rockets for the Artemis IV and Artemis V missions, but a clause directs NASA to evaluate alternatives to the EUS. It'd be therefore to see what the future holds for the SLS once the Artemis IV and Artemis V missions are carried out.

Once again the launch date is moved back.

The earliest launch window for Artemis II was set for early February 2026. However, the January 2026 North American winter storm delayed preparations for the launch, and yesterday during a wet dress rehearsal of the countdown, a liquid hydrogen leak terminated the countdown early and delayed the mission to no earlier than March.
