Actually Sabre, I was hoping to let it die here, unless someone wants to carry it on. If so, they can send me a PM and I will split the thread.

Otherwise, the topic is:

go check your own comments on the initial post. you're very forgetful.
When our mod tells you to get back on topic it means you get back on topic. I don't give a damn about what highsea wrote initially, but from this point on you will get back to topic when a mod request you to do so.

I found it amusing that people here get irritated so easily, that tells a lot about ur alititude toward differences in opinions. I don't think you unerstnad true meaning of the term "moderating". You ought to moderate, not looking down and yell at people with different opinions.

Our job here is to enforce the forum rules and in case you haven't read it, it's the link below. What you are expressing is not difference of opinion. It is off topic and violates forum rule #3.

Now lets get back to the topic please.

Highsea, gf....when Japan gets the piece of the work what will it work on. I mean hasnt the JSF work already been deligated. Or Japan will only purchase the manufactured product.
Whats their plan, ToT or purchase of manufactured product?

The F-35 for Japan will probably be a modified version carrying their own avionics and many licensed produced parts and possibly an engine too.
This was evident in their F16 remake. The Japanese F15,s are very much different to their american counter parts. This guarantees exclusivity especially considering that Japan does not export weapons.
In response to an earlier statement, l don,t think Chinas Biggest worry is Japan, unless the USA decides to launch an attack on china from mainland Japan.
"Politics and alliances change with time"
Japan wants to play a bigger role in the world.
Who knows which way we are heading.

Nothing definite has been declared yet. This has a long way to go before acceptance even. Plus even if Japan does say yes, the consortium says yes etc... then Japan has to get in the queue. She cannot get aircraft any earlier than the other consoritum members unless they volunteer to take shorter numbers or a split build. eg. Australia has been told that she could get some aircraft earlu - but it would come out of US build agreements as the other nations ahead of us are not required to give up their positions on the delivery grid.

It's a bit hard to make a "unique" JSF, they are an integrated package, a bit like the US Aegis system where it's built into the platform. You can't retro fit AEGIS onto another vessel. Similarly my understanding of JSF and the F-22 was that they were core integrated platforms.

Any platform mods have to be approved by other consortium primes - a country just can't go out and design a unique component without consultation and sign off.
