I did not intend to start a pissing match with anyone, just did not know how else to respond to a one liner that well read a lot like troll bait.No need for the two of you to get all upset with each other.
All I am going to say here with regards to military budgets, is that according to wiki (which references SIPRI....which I havent bought), the US currently spends north of 42% of the worlds total military expenditure. The next highest country being china at 7.3%. I think that says everything that needs saying with regards to whether the military is "disproportionate" or otherwise.

True, but US has always spent more than than any other country for almost 70 years. I fail to see why its so important now. Yes you're right the US does spend 43% of the worlds defense spending, but again even at that its only 4-5% of America's economy. That is completely normal with the trends for the past 10 years and even historically lower than from previous decades. So as far as a percentage of the US economy and it's federal budget, its not disproportionate. As for the rest of the world thats a different story but than again it's nothing new in any sense.
