Any submarine in any situation is always a threat. The Iranian Kilos are not the same as the Indian Kilos(as with regards to post upgradations that the Indian Kilos are undergoing), as a matter of fact I remember reading that the Iranian Kilos were upgraded with Indian batteries some years back. Why in gods name would the US be worried about IN subs? Does the US actually think that it would have trouble dealing with IN subs if the Indian government really did in some fairytale order a blocking of all or some chokepoints in the Indian Ocean. The indian ocean is a massive body of sea, not to be controlled by a country which is only its namesake. If the US is not worried about Iran fiddling with its kilos in the gulf then it wont feel any different about IN subs.
Lakshya Cruise Missile Variant is of range 600km and is under development.btw, regarding the (supposed 1,500km) cruise missile DRDO are developing is it right to asume its being derived from the Lakshya UAV project
India is also developing it as an air- or land-launched variant cruise
missile system capable of carrying a 350 kg payload to a range of 600 kms.
No one is saying that they have surpassed US navy, infact nobody can.No matter what manufacturer claims are no one really has COMPLETELY surpassed the US in the naval field
PJ-10 ur expectations are too big.Forget about India leasing, even russians don't have money to complete the first unit.Any chance of leasing a Borei-class submarine, isnt it mean to be better then the Akula 2(im persuming they are diffrent types of subs), i think it carries 20 SLBMs
As of early 1999 it appeared that construction had ceased on the first unit of the Borei-class, pending a redesign of the ship to accomodate a different missile from the originally intended SS-N-28, which had failed its first three test firings and was subsequently said to have been abandoned. The first remains under construction with a scheduled launch in 2005. Other sources state the commissioning year to be 2007-2010, depending on availability of funds.
