I'm doing some research on military weapons.

If people are going to mention recoil, then, like Gremlin29 has done, you should probably identify what type of recoil it is.

There are 3 types of recoil - not one.

Unfort I wasted one year of my life (one which unfort I will never get back) working on a recoil management system for small arms.

I still have nightmares about recoil types across different calibres. :)

Very useful advice:rolleyes:. How about googling ballistic tables and supplying facts?
What more do you want from me? I can't give you tables on my own opinion.:confused: Many people will say ether the same thing or something different, as I said its subjective.

5.56= sharp crack
7.62X39= dull thump

both in the 165 dB range. both are loud.

.308/30-06= deep heavy boom. 165-175 dB range. very loud.

If you want to hear them go to a shooting range.
