The complete inability of the US defense procurement system is actaully procure anything is pretty galling, especially as a member of one of the armed forces.
I honestly think it is almost unfixable at this point - an ugly reflection of our equally intractable political and governance problems.
But I guess as long as some people keep making money and others keep getting re-elected, we really don't need a new IFV/tank/APC/fighter-bomber/etc......there's always a newer, fancier (and expensive) project just around the corner!! And this one - we'll get this one right!! (probably not).
