Two serious aviation incidents occurred recently in the US.
A near-collision at LAX late Sunday night, which forced an American Airlines jet to slam the brakes after they had already been cleared for takeoff and had a high speed. If the American Airlines pilots reacted to slow, or didn't hear the air traffic control, this incident ended up very badly

An this happened at LaGuardia Airport (LGA).
The incident at LaGuardia Airport involved a collision between two Delta Air Lines regional jets, Endeavor Air Flight 5047 and Endeavor Flight 5155. The collision occurred on 1 October 2025, at 9:58 p.m. / 21:58 local time, with the departing jet's wing making contact with the fuselage of the arriving jet. The incident is actually a "low-speed collision" during taxiing, but is still an expensive incident.

Not hard to understand a delay due to more stringent certification procedures given Boeing's 737 MAX C-F. The financial costs to Boeing and its customers will be significant. This additional stress on Boeing is a pretty good reason for the USN to play it safe and select NG for the F/A XX project.
