Pretty impresive pictures. The engines are claimed to be very reliable. Have there been any losses of SU27's of PLAAF due to engine failure ?

so far I read, there were no losses of a J-11 or Su-27 in the PLAAF but they lost some Su-30MKK. One crashed during electronics failure in the 1990's and some were destroyed by a Typhoon (the natural disaster not the EF Typhoon :D )
at least one J-11 was fitted with one AL-31FN and WS-10A to test the Chinese powerplant several years ago. This year they finally made the adjustments to increase enough thrust to match the AL-31FN. Some sources hinted or claimed that the current WS-10A might even have slightly more thrust than the original AL-31FN.

Saturn AL-31FP engines power advanced multipurpose Su-30MKI and Su-37 fighters of the 4+ generation
does that mean AL31FP is the prod version of AL37( which the SU37 uses..) or .. MKI's radar has a much higher thrust than 125 kN.

no, there is no such thing as AL-37 anymore. It's really AL-31F, AL-31FM, AL-41F1 and AL-41F.
AL-31FM has a version AL-31FM1 that has TVC, AL-41F1 and AL-41F should both have 3D TVC.

i was more looking forward to thrust figures for the AL31s in MKK, MK2,MKI etc.
I believe the current AL-31FN used for J-10 is 122.6 kN. For, MKK and Mk2, it's 125 kN. I'd imagine it's similar for MKI. I'm pretty sure in the future, they would all be using something in the level of AL-31FM, so probably 137.5 kN.
