Let's wait and see how the Leo 1 C2 work in A-stan.
As long as I know the ones which are still there are in the final stages of training and will begin their operations to support the canadian troops soon.
But A-stan has no real armored opposition not even a real infantry opposition with efficient AT weapons.

It will be interesting how they hold up to RPG fire that would probably be the main threat I suppose, IEDs not being as prevalent.

Jep, these RPGs are awfull.
Most of our Fenneks and many Dingos are damaged and in repair because of RPG attacks.

With "Infantry with real AT capabilties" I mean a infantry force at the level Hizbollah and not some lonely ATGMs (If even available) or old RPGs and recoiless guns.
If these are able to harm your Leopard 1 with the C2 upgrade frontally than you did something wrong.

We've seen that even US M1A2 are being put out of action by guerrilla attacks in Iraq. That's an almost 60 tonne tank with additional protective armour. Imagine how a Leo1 would get ripped to pieces.

When you can get for 300,000 USD a Leo2A4/5, it becomes irresponsible to run savings on the back of soldiers' security :lul

In relatively calm Nassirya our Italian troops were regularly attacked until the day when we brought 2 dozen Ariete MBTs into the game. Since then, there were no serious attacks on our brigade stationed there.
