gf, do you know anything about the project to acquire a "littoral support weapon" for the RAAF? I've read that they still plan to acquire such a weapon for the F/A-18 fleet, but very few other details other than that. Do you know the sort of weapons they had in mind for this?

They were flares they were dropping. The footage was attached to an ADF website talking about the Electronic Warfare Self-Protection System upgrades for our Hornet fleet. The Hornet fleet (75) + simulators, and support package cost roughly $5.6 Billion in the early 80's whe we bought them. You can't buy new F/A-18 A/B/C/D Hornet fighters anymore. They stopped production in the mid nineties. New F/A -18 E/F Super Hornets cost about 30-40 Million each I believe, plus support costs. Cheers.

Thats how EW suite are meant to be, designed by your self, so that no one knows what you have !!!

Well parts of the new EW system will be Aussie designed and manufactured such as the radar warning receiver (ALR-2002). The counter measures dispensing system (ALE-57) etc will be US made and sourced, but supported in Australia.
