RIA Novosti, UFA, January 16 (RIA Novosti-Volga Region) – Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin told reporters Thursday evening in Ufa (Volga Federal Region) that he is lobbying for the creation of a single strong aircraft construction company.
The deputy prime minister explained that the company would be created through a merger of military and civilian aircraft construction companies. “Our point of view is such that there must be one aircraft supplier in order for us to be competitive on the world market. Our propulsion engineering technology has the ability to be competitive and for this reason we need to assess our possibilities, determine our level of competitiveness and evaluate our future perspectives,” Mr. Alyoshin said.
The deputy prime minister also remarked, “We do not intend to make any brash or hasty decisions regarding the creation of such a company. We must first evaluate the present situation, and then we'll see.”
